Tis company rebuilds transfer cases out of core that they have in house. I ordered a tranfer case for my SUV on 1/18/2013. They did not have a core in house but assured me that it would not be more than a few days before they got one in. They took my credit card info and withdrew the money even though nothing was shipped or even in the works. A week went by and no core. Two weeks went by and no core. They told me they were checking with other people that were supposed to send in their cores. We made plans to take out my damaged transfer case and ship it to them. I made the decision to allow my mechanic to rebuild the transfer case to save time and money and asked for a refund around March 1, 2013. They said it was done and would take three days to appear in my account. First lie. Three days later - no money. called back after a week. Said it was put in March 8th. Today is the 15th - still no money.  I have contacted the BBB in that area, and have plans to contact a lawyer next.

Sorry-we do a volume-salesperson retrained!

AUTHOR: Owner - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 07, 2015

This gentleman did order a transfer case for a Kia Sorrento that is made by Borg Warner,it is hard to find,we get calls on them from all over the country, and that is what he said when he firs order it also(according to the salesman.

ManTrans sells thousands of standard transmsissions and transfer cases every year and has been in business going on 20 years and this has only had this happen all of a few times with selling over 75,000 transmissons and transfer cases since the start in the late 90's.

There are 4 types of transfer cases for these Kia's and they are actaually made by a domestic manufacturer named Borg Warner that offers factory equipment for Fords, and GM Trucks also.

So,depending on the drivetrain that came in the Sorrento, along with the factory options, there are two 4 bolt and two 6 bolt pattern,NON TORQUE AND TORQUE ON DEMAND(T.O.D.),the latter of the two being the most sought after and the hardest to obtain is the 6 bolt TOD this gentleman needed.

ManTrans had sold two of the only transfer cases (that were this hard to find configuratin)  to a bilion dollar parts supplier that offers rebuilt units to shops, and we were waiting for a core to come in and the salesman  explained that. The customer understood this was hard to find and opted to keep it on order until we had one come in,but he was also given the opportuntiy to send his transfer case in to be rebuilt.

These transfer cases look so close to the same Borg Warner transfer cases that were put in Ford Explorers from the factory, and after he canceled the order, that is where one was found-in the crate with the Explorer Transfer cases that look almost identical.

He was given a refund, and all of this could have been avoided if the person checking in the cores had alerted us and had not misplaced the special core he needed,or if the gentleman had been willing to send his in,it would of been turned around within a week or so,and he would of been driving before February.

The unfortunate thing is that the salesman kept telling him we had one coming in,and we DID!But he did not reach out to the person who checks cores in to tell him to keep an eye out for this special transfer case, and that gentleman simply put it in a pile of units that look very close.

As a bsuiness owner I was so frustrated, and hate that the customer was also!He has LONG been refunded, but kept the oreder in until he found another one,and that made it look like we had his money for a long time.

Unfortunatley,if we do not preauth orders, due to man power isuues,we will be completeing transmissions and applying resourses towards expensive parts and we will have upwards to $30,000 worth of product on our dock and have it unpaid formso we had to make it a company policy to preauth before a work order is made unless someone already has a cxommercail account with us.

We regrat that the customer was inconveneieced, and we have considered not selling to the general public over matters like this, but then that would hurt the DoIt Yourselfers tha really need and appreciate our services.

We consider the matter resolvdmas he was redunded within days of posting this, but he was obviously upset and we regret that!
