Marathon Water Heater Rheem Lifetime warranty leaked in only four years they agreed to give me a new heater but to get the replacement you have to pay 110.00 to their distributor. Eagan, Minnesota

Four years ago when my 12 year old water heater started leaking, I searched for the best unit on the market. The Marathon was being represented as the best and because of the design. Their web site states "It's the most durable water heater made, with a warranty to match". I paid almost twice what most water heaters cost and until last week when it started leaking it worked great.

After a half hour on the phone Rheem agreed to replace the heater under warranty I was told to contact their distributor. I did and was informed that the new heater will cost me $110.00. I called them back and they said that they have no control over their distributors and basically to pound salt.

So I supposedly bought the best...it lasted only four years and now I have to pay 110 to get a new heater and 325 to have it installed....what a rip off.
