Horrible experience with service dept. I made an appointment for water leak, 18yr old son dropped the car off for me. Service guy said car was done and Mini would cover most of the $900 repair cost. He said a little over $300 on the phone. I said great and go ahead with the repair. But he presented me with $970 bill upon pick up ?

They said my son signed to have all kinds of non-requested work done on my mini with only 19k miles on it. Later, my son said the guy told him "some more work needed to be done and to sign here." I never in a million years thought a Mini dealership would pull something like this or I would have not sent him in there to drop the car off.

Service writer knew I only made the appointment to have only leak fixed but added all this in order to get the bill up and had my 18yr old sign it. I arrived a few minutes later after he signed it, but no mention to me of all the other work they planned on doing by taking advantage of my 18yr old. They are on commission so the $200 work was not cutting it for him. Never mentioned to me on the phone anything about added work being done, just mentioned ready for pick up and the bill would be less than $300 for the repair.

$970 when I got there. I was very mad. $270 for the water leak repair and $700 for the oil change, brake fluid change, air filter, etc etc. Total rip off unprofessional service department who are either liars or just incompetent. I don't look for confrontations, but this was over the top, so now going to Marin Small Claims and the B.A.R.

They Know Exactly What They Are Doing. Why Don't You???

None of this work was to be done under warranty, as per your report. So then, why on earth are you even for one split microsecond considering taking your car to any dealer for service? You know, for a fact, of the fraud and deception used in the sales process in the Sleazy American Car Business. That same fraud and deception mind set has entered the shop just like raw sewage on a downhill street. Thats a FACT!

What you get in a dealer "service" department are price gouging, poor customer service and incompetent parts changers who claim to be mechanics. Additionally, the car business is a favorite place for ex-cons, felons and other criminals because many dealerships could care less about that and hire them. Find and use a good independent mechanic. You'll find the exact opposite of what you see at any sleazy car dealership.

Remember, there is NEVER any reason to get your non-warranty work done at any dealership shop unless you enjoy being price gouged, lied to and being treated like garbage.
