SHAME ON MARINA CORTEZ, SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA!!  There is no way to give less than one star.   Maybe Yelp should create this option for businesses like this one!

In my opinion, the owner is  a RACIST AND BIGOT!   I am in shock that Rebecca Barnes, the owner of Marina Cortez would do this to anyone.  I have never liked Becky and I'm not alone, but this takes the cake.  We are in the 21st century and you can't treat black people (or any people for that matter) with disrespect and try discriminate against them and get away with it.   You can't hide behind being the marina owner and be bigot -- not anymore!!    

You cannot tell tenants their lease is terminated because in reality you just don't like their skin color, their orientation or the guests they choose to entertain in private on their own boat.  There are all kinds of state discrimination laws in California and Becky has to abide by all of them.  If she wants a fight, Becky Barnes is about to see what happens when people who really know what's going here in the marina, get fed up.

Marina Cortez has a long, shady history when it comes to breaking all kinds of established city regulations and plenty of people know this.  To me, she is singling out a certain group of very nice tenants who are black people and who seem to be abiding by the marina rules.    But then, she is allowing other long term tenants to blatantly and regularly break or bend  major regulations and rules.  That's just wrong. 

I heard the whole story  from several, different credible sources.  It certainly sounds like Becky is just making up reasons to terminate these people.  Sure maritime laws give marina owners a lot of authority but this is not the Wild West and we are not in the 1950 or 60s anymore.  People  - all people have rights.     Owners, I don't care how long you have been in this business or who your family is,  you are still accountable for  your actions; accountable to the City and the State for how you conduct your business.    I don't like what I have learned this weekend and I'm going to do whatever I can to support these marina tenants in their fight against Marina Cortez.  I hope the Port Authority gets wind of what Becky is doing.      

Marina Cortez was never a ritzy place but Carol the old manager had class and she was kind to everyone.   Becky took over recently and clearly she has shown her true colors.   Becky is Bruce's widow and   to me, from   back then and also still today is she is a greedy, self centered woman with a chip on her shoulder, but I did not know she was also a racist!

I have fond memories of the marina before Bruce died.  Carol kept the marina going for years!  Many things have changed since Carol's retirement.   Becky is making it hard for fine people to enjoy the marina and  this group in particular.  Well Marina Cortez has only one asset -- location.  The marina is old.  The bathrooms are ugly and outdated.   The security is a joke.  Sam the parking lot n**i offends everyone and he should have been fired years ago.   There are no real amenities - nothing but a pool and deli.  If you read the other newer reviews, you will see exactly what I mean.

There are so many things about Marina Cortez that need to be reported.   If the Port of San Diego does not step into do something about this situation, there are a whole bunch of people who are ready to come forward not only to support these tenants who are  being harassed but we are going to call out others who we know Becky is letting slide because they have several boats at the marina.   We know who the REAL RULE BREAKERS are!  

 Amos walks around the marina disrespecting other tenants,  meddling in people's affair, and he must think we don't see what's going.    Amos Zolna is just one of several tenants undermining very specific regulations.   Becky needs to clean up her act and stop turning a blind eye to certain tenants while harassing others. I am mad as hell about this.  We  deserve better!!  Bruce is rolling in his grave right now!
