Mark Martinez Marcus WARNING!!! This guy "Mark" / "Marcus", might rip you off. He advertises in Craigslist for a variety of outdoor projects. Landscaping, plumbing, sprinkler repairs, handyman, painting, yard cleanups/cleanouts, deck and fence repairs, etc. . . He's ripped off several people in June/July 2016. He'll talk a good talk, then ask for half the money up front. He might do part of the work, then will stop answering his phone and disappear. Colorado Springs Colorado

I wish I would have researched his name prior to paying him - as soon as I googled "Mark Martinez Craigslist" warning about him ripping people off popped up.  I contacted him through Craigslist to do some yard cleanup - he responded right away and came over to give me a bid. He then found out that I was about to do a landscaping project and stated that he'd be willing to give me a bid for that as well. After giving me a $1200 bid, he asked for half upfront, which I gave him. He failed to show up for three days in a row, but then finally did and worked for about 2 hours - he brought with him what he claimed was his wife and kids, who sat in his white truck while he worked. At the end of the day, he claimed that he had a family emergency and asked for some more money upfront. I asked him what he did with the $600 I gave hims as downpayment, and he claimed that he spent in on materials for the landscaping project. Like a naive idiot, I wrote him another check for $200, which was cashed within an hour on Sunday at one of those "Payday Loan" places. After he left, he didn't show up for 7 conseciutive days - my calls were being ignored as he became non-responsive. I started using different phone numbers to get a hold of him, and when I was able to he gave me his word every time that he'd show up. He left some of his old rusty equipment in the backyard and kept on using that as proof that he'd come back, but never did. I've given up on him and moved on, but it's still eating at me. This con artist needs to be recognized for what he is in order to prevent him from doing the same to others.
