I received a call a few weeks ago from Officer Mark Williams. He told me I had borrowed money from an on line lending service and not repayed it. I have borrowed money this way before but felt sure I had repaid everything so I asked him for documentation. He said he did not have to provide the documentation. I think ask for the amount and date of the loan.

After receiving the date and amount I played a long with him and told him I would send him the signed agreement to have my account debited. As soon as I got off the phone with him I researched my account and found their had not been an money electronically deposited matching the amount he stated deposited on the day he said or anytime in the last two years.

I called him back and told him I was not paying the money because I didn't borrow it. He told me I would be picked up the next day. I said okay do what you have to do.

After talking to a friend I learned about the Fair Debt Collection Act and was prepared for them to call me again. They didn't call immediately but today they called back. After calling one of my references yesterday.

Today they again threatened to have me arrested. I asked them if they had ever heard of the Fair Debt Collection Act they ignored me and kept talking. I told them by law they have to notify me in writing via certified mail before they can sue me. He said you may be picked up today. I said I can not be arrested in the United States for owing someone money on a loan. When I told him they had to notify me he told me they had via email I told him that didn't count that it has to be by certified mail. I don't know if they notified me via email or not I get a ton of junk email on that email address.

Apparently if they can not scare you into paying them in the first time then they try to wear you out and get you to pay so they will leave you alone.

How do we stop these people?
