I found an ad on Craigslist where some company named Home Connection was looking for reps for a new bad credit mortgage program they were pushing. I was contacted by a guy named Mark Wofford who also owns Black-Box Technologies who went on to talk about this program where he had a private lender specifically a hedge fund that would approve people with bad credit for a 30 yr fixed mortgage from $100k up to $250k. As long as they could pay a $495 "processing and inspection fee" as well as escrow 3â„… of the loan amount, no matter how bad their credit, he could get them approved. It sounded like a good idea and he promised to pay 1.5â„… commission on every loan we referred to him that closed. Mark is very charismatic and will tell you anything you want to hear. But he is a liar, fraud and very incompetent. I noticed he was lying to me about following up with the leads I submitted and he never sent anyone a commission agreement to sign because he never intended on paying anyone anyway. When asked about other deals he had done he would simply make something up just to keep you motivated. He then wanted more focus on commercial deals and how the money was better doing commercial loans and he would beat about how much business he had "getting ready to close" I have brokered before and I know the commercial game very well and anyone that brags about how many deals they have more than likely is not closing. Anyway this guy hires a processor to collect paperwork from my borrowers and this person didn't even stay a full week because this person got wind of Mark's scam and bolted. I had people lined up ready to get approved but they were not being followed up with and thank God none of them sent in the $495 so called processing and appraisal fee. I had people who were genuinely interested in the program and really needed help but this guy was not performing like most so called private lenders. People like Mark Wofford give finance a bad name and he seeks to take advantage of people in need. He all of a sudden disappeared one day. I stopped getting phone calls and one of my borrowers even called his cell phone and they said someone by a different name answered and said they didn't know Mark. Thankfully the borrower didn't send any money to this clown. If you see Mark Wofford posting for any home loan rep positions, don't even bother cause this guy is a scrub and a beautiful liar and I doubt he has closed one loan as a joker broker. Home Connection according to my research is a business based out of Chicago that helps people rent to own homes but as far a providing mortgages, that's not true. You reap what you sow Mark! Wise up buddy!
