People in the Kansas City area should be aware that on August 7, 2010 (Saturday, a personable young man named Seth Tucker, in my neighborhood today in my upscale neighborhood going door-to-door asking for donations. The scam is, they had to raise money for the Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City and the donation would provide magazine subscriptions for needy kids and the hospital would be sent w/ the donor's name as A gift from the XXX family.

Seth would get a portion of the donation to fund his baseball teams trip to a national level competition and they needed to raise money for the tournament trip to Hawaii. He said he lives in the neighborhood (and named a specific street about 5 blocks from me) and had just moved to the area from California 6-months ago. The team would get some of each donation - he said it was $102 to fully sponsor one child and you could also sponsor half at $51 and is tax deductible. He stated that he needed only 6 more sponsorships to finish getting his donations and showed me check for $102, $204 and $306 from people that live within 3-6 blocks away from my house.

When I said no, he said that he would come back and clean out my front gutters and clean the entryway windows to my house on Wednesday. I gave him a check for $51 (half child). Why? Because I actually have a stopped up gutter on the front of my house. Seth was very convincing and sincere.

The company's name doing the fulfillment is Marquis Fulfillment Agency LLC (Fully on the form it says Allied Group Clearing Business through Marquis Fulfillment Agency LLC). So the young man asked that the check be made to MFA. He also said that his mom said not to forget to tell the neighbors that the "donation is tax deductible." On the form that he filled in, it says nothing about the donation being tax deductible. The phone number for customer service is 770-831-7722 and it worked, but all agents were busy and for the caller to leave a message.

When I checked out the company name on-line, I learned that the company is involved in a door-to-door fraud of with several kind of twists to the where the donation would go. My getting scammed is nearly to a scam posted from the Washington DC area (including the scammer used the name Seth Tucker)!! Lastly, I got my check cancelled at my bank today, before it was cashed by these low-life outlaws.
