Martin Hewins, aka Piper Major Martin Hewins, aka UK's premier bagpiper, aka Pipergram.
This man RUINED MY WEDDING DAY. He was booked to play at my wedding service and did not turn up. I paid a deposit (that he has still not even refunded to this day!).
He actually advertises how professional his service is by saying "I can assure you of a first class and professional performance" - All lies.
I called to confirm his performance the day before my wedding, he answered the call and sheepishly said he would have to call me back and never did. Then to my utter amazement he did not turn up to my wedding in the morning, no call, no text, and reply to my calls either.
After the event he still ignores all my calls and correspondence. And when I have got through to him he lies and says he is posting a cheque to refund the deposit on that day. It is amazing how much one man can lie.
I urge anyone one unfortunately comes across this man PLEASE DO NOT take the risk of booking PIPE MAJOR MARTIN HEWINS and being let down. He will tell you everything to re-assure as you book him but will leave you at a loss when you need him.

Hi there
I have had exactly the same negative experience with this man. He failed to attend my wedding in august 2007 stating car trouble as an excuse. My deposit was also not refunded. I have filed my own separate report on this site. Please see my report on Martin Hewins for further info.

In over 30 years of playing the bagpipes, I wish to put on file and defend my position as to the complaint about not turning up for a Sikh Wedding at the Brent Sikh Temple on the 22nd June 2012.The client Jesal Kansagra booked my services to play initially at his home in Harrow followed by the Brent Sikh Temple. I was due to play at the house at 8.30am followed by the Temple at 9am.
With the travel distance over 100 miles to the venue, I stayed over in Northampton the evening before the Wedding at a Hotel where I had been playing. Unfortunately, I lost my car keys and had to call on Citroen Birmingham to provide replacements. This all took time and caused a considerable delay. Once into the car, the carphone had several messages from the Best Man asking where I was. Unfortunately access to my car was after 9am and I then returned the calls advising of the problem and that I was on my way and could play later after the initial ceremony. I requested a return call which never materialised at at Luton, decided to abort the journey as obviously I was not required. I accept that a 50 deposit was paid fro my services which has been returned to the Jesal Kansagra which he acknowledged and did say thank you.
I did have a long conversation with Jasal Kansagra to explain the circumstances which were unfortunate and apologised for the inconvenience. He did say that he had arranged alternative music at the Wedding, Dhol Drummers I believe. As a Professional Piper and known World-wide for my unique skills in playing the bagpipes, it is not in my nature and character to not turn up as Jesal Kangara stated. With the wedding being so early and some 100 miles from where I live, over-night accommodation should have ideally been sought nearer the venue. No offer was made by the Client who was fully aware of the distance to travel.
I do hope that my explanation is accepted and that forgiveness of the unfortuate circumstances on this occasion will allow individuals to move on.
