We hired Martin Signature Homes d/b/a Lamay-O, Inc. aka - William "Bill Martin" to build a new home for us.  Had a set budget amount and each line item for the home was listed on a budget sheet. This was a fixed contract.  After disputing with the builder, they now claim it is a cost plus contract.  I know what the contract states and when it's a fixed contract, it is fixed.   Bill Martin did not calculate or budget enough for the home to be built as we thought.  We only learned of this mid way through our build.  He threatened to stop all work after receiving 98% of our money with only 70% of the house being finished.  Bill Martin is a scammer and doesn't have the experience that he claims to have.  After multiple complaints to him, he is still being evasive.  I would run fast from this builder and company.  Very unprofessional and Arrogant.  You will have change order after change order to make up for his mistakes and then he will try to manipulate you into thinking it's your fault that he didn't budget correctly for the home.  His contractors license in other states have been revoked before but then reinstated.  Not sure why a builder would hop around from state to state to build homes instead of his own state.  Something is not right and I should have done more research on this builder and company.

This company is not an honest company, despite the fact he goes to church.  The owners name is Bill Martin and his son is Drew Martin and if I had known what I would have to go through to get our house built, I would have gone else where.  Most of the subcontractors don't speak English so it is very hard to explain what you want from them.  The brick work was fantastic, the tile was very good but I can complain about every stage of building this house in Shreveport, LA.  I have emails, pictures and texts saved with all the problems.  We had a list of things needing fixed from last August 2017 and I am still waiting for them to finish them.  They still owe us money from when they took out their last draw in July 2017 and gave so many excuses as to why they couldn't get us the information to verify.  Then they try to charge us for things that are already covered in the contract.  The doors were done so badly (we bought from Ivey's prehung) that there was a gap in one of the doors the let bugs and ants in at the bottom.  When we showed Bill, he said it was within the 10% akkiwabce,  Then Drew came and put little trim squares at the bottom to plug the gap but even that didn't work.  Everytime I found something wrong, I would get ignored until I went into the office to complain, or they did a quick patch instead of fixing it.  I am seriously thinking of going to the BBB to file a complaint but am waiting to see if they actually get the rest of the work done after this last complaint to them.  Then it is blast the websites and get a lawyer.  I have dozens of pictures of proof and any emails  you want to see.

Sure his homes look beautiful on their website and in person but if you could see all of the cracks and mistakes in my home, you wouldn't hire this company/person to build for you. I welcome anyone to contact me, and I will be happy to share the 100's of pictures that I have. The biggest mistake we have ever made was hiring someone from another state to build for us.  We did our research, we asked prior home owners questions and met with this builder muiltiple times. He will tell you exactly what you want to hear and agree to it, until it comes to his mistakes which he calls CHANGE ORDERS that he will have YOU pay for.  He doesn't know how to bid a house properly, so if anything is under the bid amount, guess who's paying for the difference?  YOU WILL!!!!  He will say it's a change order.  No, it's not a change order unless YOU change something. He is unprofessional.  We have hired attorneys and tried to respond with Mr. Martin's attorney, in which we didn't get a response back from a year ago.  Typical professionalism from Mr. Martin.  Good luck if you hire this company to build for you.  They have also changed their email website address since we hired them.  Seems to be their way out of the bad builds and a way to run from those they have screwed over.  This is their new address (http://www.martin-homes.com) which is different than the web address we had just over a year ago.  I find it fishy for a new growing business eager to build up their company, their name and reputation.
