This all started by me getting suckered into buying a coupon book from a door to door advertising company named sky media. They sold me this coupon book for Master Tech Automotive here in kyle for 50 dollars, this coupon listed a lot of services including oil changes for half price. I went in several times for oil changes and right off the bat noticed the counter people were not very friendly but I figured I will get my moneys worth from this booklet and never come back again. So one day I go in for a flat repair witch is one of the free coupons in the booklet and they tell me they don't do flat repairs and that the coupon was a misprint. So I say ok misprints could happen, then I go again for a wheel alignment with of course my free coupon for that service and of course that happens to be another misprint (what a coinsidense right). So I go in yet again with a free check engine light diagnostics coupon and the counter person named Duke tells me that the coupon is for the code read out only and if I want a diagnostics of what is wrong it would be 80 dollars. So I clearly tell him that I want the free code read out and that I would take it some where else to get the the codes interpreted to me. So he grabs my keys and tells me ok we will do that. So after about half an hour he returns and tells me that the problem is my secondary oxygen sensor and it would cost 200 and some what dollars to replace it. So I say ok I will return when I have the money to get it replaced, he then tells me ok it will be 87 dollars for the read out. I then tell him don't you have my coupon for the free (code diagnostics) then he says yes that was just to give you the code but not to give you the diagnostic witch i allready gave you (how convenient right). I then tell him that I never asked for the diagnostic I just wanted my free code read out, he then gets up angry and calls me (the customer) a rip off ( wow what customer service). I then angrily reply by saying that I am not a rip off and even though he is wrong i will pay for the service I did not want, he then replies (I don't want your money) so of course I reply ok, ( I don't want your service). It then takes them about ten minutes to give me my car keys and to back my car out of the repair bay. On the drive home my car starts sputtering I then check under the hood and my battery terminals are loose, I don't know if they accidently left them loose or that was just another form of their great customer service. I intent on reporting this shop to what ever agency i can because I do not think it is right for any paying customer to be treated this way, and of course I will never return to this place again and i am telling every one I know this story so they won't have to go trough it themselves.

First I would like to state that I am never rude to anyone entering my facility. We all have bad days from time to time and I am no different. If I have come across as rude in any way then I do apologize because it is not intentional. Every customer is treated with courtesy and fairness. I give each customer an estimate before repairs are started and always get permission to diagnose. I explain the charges beforehand so that there are no surprises.
I remember this visit and NEVER told this customer that either of the service(Alignment)was a misprint. we do however do flat repairs by way of a tire plug.We did not have tire plugs at the time due to the driver of the company we get them from had an accident and could get them to us till a week later. As far as the alignment goes, we could have been to booked to take one in but he was never told it was a misprint.
Check Engine Light Scan. The coupon CLEARLY states (Codes Only). When I explained to the customer that a diagnostic fee would have to be charged and that just retrieving a code would not let you know what was wrong with your car he became irritated but said that he needed to know what was wrong with his car so I scheduled it with a technician to diagnose. When I came in with the diagnosis the customer did in fact say that he would have to come back after getting up the funds to do the repairs. That is when I informed him of the 80.00 charge that was owed. He knew this up front and told me he needed to know what was wrong with the car so I took that as a go ahead to diagnose.
The BATTERY was not touched at anytime during or after the diagnosis. The scanner is connected inside the car and is self powered by that connector. So there would be no reason to go near the battery for anything other than maintenance which this vehicle was lacking.
After he was told about the charge he himself made comments that I was trying to rip him off. I take this very to be very offensive. I strive to run an honest and reputable business and have been doing so since 1997. I, nor any of my employees has ever taken advantage of anyone that has done business with us.
I am a Veteran Of Foreign WarsOf the US and I know what Honesty, Integrety and Morals are and I live my life bythe meaning of those words.
I have a money back guarantee if a repair cannot be fixed correctly if it comes back. If a vehicle is misdiagnosed the consumer does not pay for the repair. If we cannot find the problem on your car then you are not charged.
I told this customer I did not want his money because I will not be labeled a ripoff by someone who knew good and well what his motives were when he entered my facility and I told him I thought I was the one getting ripped off but I will NOT take money from a customer unless they are satisfied.
I have been in this business for over 25 years now and have met all kinds of great people and have met many that want more than they are due. In any case they are all treated with respect, honesty and courtesy. I have a customer base of over 3000 customers. many have moved or passed on for some reason or another, but I also still havemany of thosethat are still active in the system.
Not everyone can be pleased and I know this. If someone treats me with the same amount of respect they want to be treated with then we can solve any issue that could arise. If I am treated with disrespect I will still try to be courteous but that person would be better off finding someone who doesn't mind being treated that way. I will not stand for it.
I urge this gentleman to get a refund on the coupon he bought if it is not going to serve him. I will even urge SkyMedia to do so.
