In December of 2002, salesman James Wantiez came to our home to try to sell us a liquid vinyl siding (paint) job for our home. He certainly gave a very impressive presentation. He said: the job came with a lifetime guarantee, no fading, peeling chipping, etc. He said that the nails that had rusted through on the siding would be sealed with the special primer they applied, and the rust would not come back through. He told us that if there was future damage (such as termite, dry rot, or carpenter ant damage) and we had to replace a section of siding, the company would come back and re-finish the area to match, no charge. He basically promised the world. How could we go wrong?

Well, the workers came and started to mask the windows, doors, and trim, but before they finished priming, a local licensed painting contractor reported the company for not being licensed in our county. The company, Masterpiece Exteriors, from Largo, Florida, was fined, as was the painter, who refused to come back and finish the job. So the company hired a local licensed painting contractor to complete the job. (Incidentally, we were told that the product could only be applied by specially trained applicators. The contractor that finished the job had not been trained in its application.)

Now, only two years later, the paint is fading BADLY, the rust has come back through from the nails, and finish is checked in various places. (Please see pictures.)

The TEX-COTE Classic Manufacturer's Limited Lifetime Warranty is full of holes. Masterpiece did not want to give us a copy of the warranty until the job was finished. Wonder why?

More rust, and "checking". One website says: "much thicker than paint, they'll help fill in a home's surface imperfections." Also, notice the area of touch up after about one year of wear. Already beginning to fade.

Before I signed the contract, I did my due diligence by searching on the web for information on the product and it's application. My wife and I even went to look at a house supposedly done by this contractor. It appeared to be fine.

Notice the lofty promises on the following websites:

In fact, with TEXCOTE on your home, you'll never have to worry about painting your home again!

www.texcotehomes.com/protection.asp#Scene_1
In fact, it is so durable, it is backed by one of the strongest warranties in the business for as long as you own your home.

Jay Haines, president and chief executive officer of TCA, said the new home exterior finish saves time and cuts maintenance costs, and also can provide homeowners with energy savings.

Haines said the Tex-Cote Super-Cote coating system is 10 times thicker on average than ordinary house paint. More important, he said it is so strong and durable that it can withstand an average of 40 years of exterior exposure and, when professionally applied, is warranted for as long as the homeowner owns the home.

Tex*Cote does not chalk and oxidize as paint does. An alternative to painting or siding. Tex*Cote Coating performs like vinyl siding but looks like a beautiful paint job and is warranted against chipping, peeling, and flaking for as long as you own your home. It can be applied over any type of surface .. and it eliminates the need to ever paint again.

Our products meet the most stringent federal standards for use on military bases which require the coatings to be able to withstand the equivalent of 40 years of exterior exposure. Through our extensive research, we have developed a product line that offers a unique blend of superior performance, durability and beauty.

TEXCOTE Genuine (TC100 or Classic) and SUPERCOTE systems go on much thicker than paint, they'll help fill in a home's surface imperfections.

Tex*Cote Coating performs like vinyl siding but looks like a beautiful paint job and is warranted against chipping, peeling, and flaking for as long as you own your home. It can be applied over any type of surface - from your eves to the foundation - and it eliminates the need to ever paint again.

It gives a smooth finish, looks richer than standard paint, and provides you with a home that you will never paint again.

The revolutionary new coating system 10 times thicker on average than ordinary house paint is so strong and durable that it can withstand an average of 40 years of exterior exposure.

Further paint failure. Compare what you see, to promised on websites.

The SUPERCOTE finish can last for decades without chipping, flaking or peeling. It even incorporates advanced technology that helps it resist fading.

This revolutionary heat reflective finish produces a longer service life and the best weathering and durability in the industry.

Having TEXCOTE Genuine (TC100 or Classic) or SUPERCOTE applied to your home can help you save tens of thousands of dollars in painting costs over the life of your home. In fact, depending upon where you live in the country, you could save over $80,000. So over time, TEXCOTE may not only pay for itself it may actually pay you!

This rip job cost us $5500 and we are requesting a complete refund.

the products from texture coatings of america are truly revolutionary and they perform as they are promised and warranteed BUT but the warranty is only for 3 years on wood siding and lifetime on stucco. its apparent that the applier was not trained and licensed to use the product on your home andf the salesman\company had no problem in lying to you about it. its truly not the products fault

TEX COTE, COMPLETE SATISFACTION

AUTHOR: Ron - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 12, 2005

Upon complete analysis, the facts indicated that there was no evidence that the TCA product applied by Masterpiece was defective.

TCA has been very diligent and has bent over backwards to resolve the problems, including locating a new licensed applicator and supplying materials, at no charge!!!

Thank you, TEX COTE
