During the first week of February 2013, I was transported to Mattress Warehouse to put down on a new mattress. Since I am on a fixed income, my purchase had to be placed on a lay away plan. The mattress selected and contractually agreed upon was the Posterped Oakridge which was firm and comfortable.

During the first week of July, my mattress was finally delivered by men who rushed to set up the mattress in my small senior studio apartment. When questioning them, they spoke very little English and appeared not to comprehend my requests. By the second day, I noticed this mattress was not the same quality as the one on display. There were coil prints from the mattress in my hips and thighs, not to mention sever back discomfort.

When analyzing the mattress and comparing the tag against my contract, I noticed I was sent a Simmons product, which did not have the same SKU nor was it manufactured by Sealy or tested & ordered via our contract in the store. This was one of the questions I asked the delivery persons who appeared not to speak fluent English.

The bottom line: When contacting Mattress Warehouse with the discrepancy, they gave me the run around with promised shipments and apologies which were never realized. Upon contacting Mattress Warehouse Customer Service (for all locations) in Frederick, the end result was the Manager  told them I verbally agreed to purchase an unknown, untested product and they were standing by his statement. Please note: The contract states all agreements must be in writing – Any verbal agreements will not be honored.

I am currently out $600 plus dollars, stuck with a poor quality mattress and forced to sleep in a recliner due to the fraudulent practices by Mattress Warehouse. I am posting this complaint in order to prevent other people, such as you, from becoming misled and victimized by their fraudulent practices. If and when a resolution is reached, this notification will be updated accordingly. Beware!
