On December 8, 2003 I purchased an 80G 7200 RPM Ultra Series Hard Drive model number L01P080 form Office Depot in Sugar Land, Tx. I was responding to an Office Depot ad that offered $50 in mail in rebates. The rebates consisted of 2 seperate rebates. One of $20 and another of $30. I filled out the forms properly, included the required enclosures and mailed it a month before the Feb, 3 2004 deadline.

The rebates stated that the purchase must have been made between Nov.23, 2003 and Jan.3, 2004, and must be postmarked before Feb.3, 2004. My sales reciept clearly showed these requirements and I used the rebate form that printed out from the Office Depot cash register at the time of purchase! On Jan.13, 2004 I received an email from Maxtor Rebates that stated my rebate status as "not valid". A paragraph followed saying I was not eligible for the rebate because I didn't purchase the hard drive between the required dates. I did. They're wrong. I'm going to fight this.

Office Depot fault for printing the wrong offer number on the receipt

AUTHOR: Russ - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 19, 2004

I made the exact same purchase of the Maxtor 80 GB 7200RPM Ultra Series Hard Drive and received
the same card from the rebate center that it was
not purchased within the required dates for the rebate. I went to the Office Depot web site and
printed the rebate certificate and if you notice
on your rebate receipt from Office Depot that is printed on their cash register it has the wrong
rebate submission offer number on it. it says on my receipt to send it to offer #03-67854 the printed rebate offer that is on the Office Depot
web site is 03-67944 so I am going to call the rebate center and see if they will transfer the
submitted information over to the correct department. It is Office Depot fault for printing
the wrong offer number on the receipt. I hope it
all works out. I will keep you posted by sending
a Rip Off Report if it does not get taken care of.
