Last April I contacted my local Mayflower agent in Maryland to assist my family with moving to Fort Worth, Texas. The salesperson came out, looked at our stuff gave us a quote and stressed your 97% claim free rate. We
agreed to use Mayflower and set a date to have our belongings picked up. A few days later we were told United would be handling our move. That would
be fine.

Moving day came and United arrived. Due to the parking lot at the apartment complex we had to use a shuttle for pick up and one at delivery. United picked up our things without a hitch. All was well. And they collected about
2800 dollars from me.

About 8 days later they arrived in Fort Worth. It was sooner than expected and that was great. At the time everything was pretty hectic. They got our new apartment right after I finished the second day of my new job. When the driver asked if everything was there, it looked like it was. It wasn't.

About a month later I noticed one of my guitars, a blue 1994 40th Anniversary American Standard Fender Stratocaster I'd bought when I was 16, was no where to be found. We also noticed that a good deal of some of our
cookware hadn't arrived either.I called customer service and they said they'd "investigate." About a month
later I get a letter in the mail telling me the investigation found nothing and I can file a claim if I want. Having been told of the 97% claim rate my
wife and I thought we would be ok with the declared value 60 cents per pound insurance. What are the chances the truck is going to flip over and toss all our stuff across Tennessee? Do you know how much a guitar weighs?
For ease of math we'll say 10 pounds. That would be 6 dollars back. Why would anyone file a claim? Maybe that's where the famed 97% claim rate
comes from.
