We purchased a Maytag dishwasher model MDB7600AWW in April 2005. It has been in use since June 2005.e purchased the extended warranty from Maytag: "Dependability Plus". The handle on the machine broke last night, and I can hear broken plastic inside. It require considerable force to open the machine.

This morning I phoned the Dependability Plus line and was told by the service representative that they would repair the machine since the door was still operable. They will not do anything unless it is impossible to open the door. I sai "ok, I can't open the door then". He said " I have to go by what I heard first". I asked to speak to a supervisor and was cycled through a number of ringing phones until the original representative came back on the line and told me I would have to leave a voicemail message. I said I did not want to leave a voicemail message and said I would wait on the line until a supervisor became available. He said he would have to terminate the call.

I phoned the local Maytag retailer's service department and they were sympathetic and agreed tthat there was a broken part, but confirmed that they could not do anything under warranty without the approval from "'Dependability Plus". I looked up the number for Maytag Canada customer service on the internet and ended up in a telephone loop with Whirlpool. I waited between 5 to 10 minutes for an agent while they experienced "higher than normal call volumes". Eventually I hung up.

I am appalled at the lack of service or consideration shown by this company. We currently have two Maytag appliances. The dishwasher and a washing machine. Based on this episode I would not consider replacing any other equipment with this brand and I will now actively counsel others not to buy a Maytag.

The company does not stand behind their goods and is clearly not interested in customer satisfaction. Apparently there is a class action suit against the Neptune line, according one of the voicemail prompts I heard this morning.

This company does not live up to its reputation. It seems that the real reason that Maytag repair man is lonely is because the company is too cheap to repair their shoddy goods. I am disappointed, especially when I compare this the kind of response I get when I take my car in to the dealers service department. Maytag is definitely not in the same class as Volvo, much as they pretend.

I love this - the quote below was EXACTLY my experience! In my case, I have paid the contract for 6 years on a $6,000 Dynasty Range. When it needed $500 of repairs they refused to repair it and offered to buy out the contract for $200. When I asked for a supervisor......
