I will make this short and sweet.

I purchased McAfee today, installed it, scanned my computer and it said everything was good to go. Immediately upon restarting my browser was hijacked. This was not occurring before purchasing the anti-virus software package and I had now downloaded anything else that day. In other words, the malware browser hijacking software had to have been bundled in with the Mcafee download.

I contact tech support, and get on the chat line with a gentleman named KJ. KJ said he was going to initiate a free remote access session to fix my issues. No problem, I let him get on the machine and everything seemed to be going fine. He came back up on the chat line and said he needed to restart my computer in safe mode, and asked if he could proceed. Sure, I said, and the computer restarted. After logging in, we were disconnected from the session. I clicked back on the tech support link, assuming that I would be able to reconnect and get things fixed up. This was not the case. I was told I now needed to call a phone number and that a technician would take control via remote access and fix my issues while I watched. I asked why I couldn't just restart my session like before, and no response was given. I called the number and was immediately bombarded by Indian sales reps, stating that I was infected with a virus and needed to purchase a remote session to fix this major problem. I informed them that I was just on a free remote session with KJ, and asked to be reconnected. Of course, I got the runaround, and after talking with three more Indian sales reps with very thick accents reading me obviously scripted paragraphs I hung up.

I had just purchased their software of $90, and wasn't having ANY issues with my new PC before I installed McAfee. I was able to fix the issues myself without paying an Indian technician, and will be reversing the charges on my AMMEX and deleting McAfee.

Buyer beware, this is not a legit computer protection package as they claim. Being affiliated and owned by Intel I expected much more. I was very disappointed.
