McCown Heating & Air Conditioning /Hugh McCown/Elaine McCown McCowan Company Filled my home with black smoke then DENIED IT!!! Greenville South Carolina

Years ago McCown Company maintained the heating and air conditioning system at my home. (Had installed the heat pump.) Instead of "strip heat" my oil furnace backs up the heat pump when temperatures are too low for the heat pump to be efficient.

Called TWICE for service on my oil furnace. IT WAS COLD! Claimed all their technicians were busy. 

Finally they sent out a red haired young man. He spent about an hour and left.

System was not working.

Called again. They sent out the same "repairman." He spent about 30 minutes, could not repair it. and left. 

Called AGAIN. Instructed the person on the phone "DO NOT SEND out the same repairman EVER AGAIN!"

An hour later the SAME "repair guy" came out.  =Heard a Loud BOOM in my basement. Covered in soot, the repair man left 4 minutes later. I smelled smoke. Looking through a basement window, I saw no flame.  By the time my neighbor arrived to help, my home filled with heavy black smoke/soot and smelled of heating oil.  Neighbor helped open doors and windows and air out my home after he determined there was no fire. HALF my home was filled with thick black soot and the floors were covered in a black tar like film..

Called another HVAC repair company. They came out. Fixed my furnace in 20 minutes. Presenting with their bill.  Said my home filled with smoke 'because somebody repeatedly pushed the  "restart button" on the furnace and that caused the explosion.' "Any fool  KNOWS you  NEVER  push that button MORE THAN ONCE or this happens..." 

Called McCown with a report. Female I spoke with stated she was sorry but my problem had NOTHING TO DO WITH them...!"

Is this the  "AGAPE LOVE" they advertize???  

Called my homeowners insurance.  They sent out an adjuster to inspect the damage. He stated my insurance had a $1000 deductible, but it covered the damages.  Cleaning company took 3 days and the repair/cleanup bill ran $4000.00!!! Also, I had to live in a hotel and eat out  till smoke damage was cleaned.    

I reported this to McCown Company. Female I spoke with on the phone stated ,she was sorry for the problem, but it is NOT their problem!  I urged insurance company to pursue McCown in the courts. Never did.

So I was out the $1000 +lodging +meals, was highly agitated, AND had to live/eat at a hotel 3 nights away from the comforts of home/my possessions.  Also, it was the holiday season. I host 3 parties in December.

It is said the BEST advertising is 'word of mouth.' One must suppose, failing word of mouth,  SHODDY REPAIR COMPANIES must BUY  expensive radio ads.
