I don't know that I'd call it a rip off per se, since this is a game, but a large reputable company promising prizes and not delivering has got to be close.

In the 2008 McDonald's Monopoly game, I was thrilled to have landed on Free Parking to win a Shell Gas Card. I carefully followed the instructions they gave me, filled the forms, scanned my game piece for my records, and sent the forms and game piece in exactly as specified.

We called sometime in March I think to see if they'd sent it or what happened. They said they sent it, so there's basically nothing they can do. I guess they think we're lying.

I wonder if these things come in an envelope that says "free gas card" or "MCDonald's Monopoly" or something or if an employee swiped it.

I guess one can't expect too much from a chain won't even give you an extra pack of sauce without charging you.

All these people quoted on the bag that say they've won? Total garbage. I don't believe McDonald's even gives out prizes.

Lost in the mail

It could have gotten lost in the mail. That does happen. I am surprised they didn't try to make it right with you, but I'm sure they have some clause to cover prizes lost in the mail.

Ronnie: ""Seems this contest is a crock. All they have to do is not activate the card they "claimed" they have sent out, and simply send another as any legitimate company would do. Or cancel it if it is being used fraudulently..which I highly doubt is the case as they would need some personal information before activating a card. ""

They are probably gift cards. If its just a gift card, mcdonald's probably does not track them. Most gift cards do not require you to input any personal information for you to use them. You just get them and go use them. I"m sure they just had a stack of the cards, and threw one on a piece of paper and mailed it. No need for them to keep track of the serial number.

Why can't they just send another card?

Seems this contest is a crock. All they have to do is not activate the card they "claimed" they have sent out, and simply send another as any legitimate company would do. Or cancel it if it is being used fraudulently..which I highly doubt is the case as they would need some personal information before activating a card.

So it seems they are full of it...well full of the same stuff McDonald's burgers are made from..need I mention.

On a side note..if you have been reading through the reports here (do a search or advanced search "citibank shell gas card" etc)..you will find they have been canceling customers left and right..and all of these customers claim they have never been late and never went over limit.

Something smells a little fishy here..and not just a "fillet o fish" either.
