On Christmas Eve, I had to stop by the Pharmacy to pick up some last minute things for X-Mas.  On my way home I was tired and hungry, and didn't feel like cooking.  So, I thought I would grab a bite to eat before returning home.  I drove to down town  Fort Wayne to see if any place would be open...

Wendy's, Arby's, Tacobell, Ralley's, Subway, Burger King, all had their banner lights shut off.  But McDonalds!!! Yeah!  They have all of their lights on!!!

I pulled around to the drive-through, and it was even lit up.  I waited.  And, I waited... Setting there burning up gas in a big 4 wheel drive pick-up.  And I waited...

HOW RUDE MALLACED AND DECIEVING ! ! !  If they are going to close, at least turn off the banners lights!!!  All other businesses did!!!  This is "false advertising".  I am VERY UPSET and should follow through with complaints to the Federal Trade Commission, B.B.B., and every other conceivable web site on the internet!

I then drove to the McDonalds on 202 E. Rudisill Blvd.   All lights and banners were lit.  I pulled around to the drive-through.  The drive through terminal was lit.  After the car in front of me pulled off, and a 2-3 minute wait, a voice came over the drive through station saying, "Welcome to McDonalds, would you like to try a delicious McDonalds Moca this evening".  I replied "No, I will just have three (3) one (1) dollar double cheese burgers please".  And I waited... And I waited...  There was no reply, "Please pull around to the window to pick up your order".  And I waited, again burning up expensive gasoline in a big 4X4 pick-up truck.

I then pulled around to the window where I observed a short young obese African American that was cleaning.  She tried to rudely ignore me and not to laugh.  Finally she waived to me saying, "WERE CLOSED".  I yelled, "Yes, but you took my order"!

Ok, I don't know who the jokester here is, but this joke is not going to be on me!  There are too many people out there who need jobs!  Evidently the false informer representing the McDonalds at 202 E. Rudisill Blvd., doesn't value their job enough?

Point blank: THEY SHOULD BE FIREED! This is an act of malfeasance!   Must I repeat myself? "THIS JOKE IS NOT GOING TO BE ON ME"!!!

Now even worse! ! !   A lady from the McDonalds Corporate Office calls me about this complaint.  Her explaination:  Oh, sorry, they forgot to turn off the auto-greeter at the drive-through.  Now this takes the cake for lame excuses...  "There were signs posted on the drive-through terminals stating that they were closed".  "OH PLEASE"!!!  If you are going to lie, at least make it a believeable one!

Do NOT do any business at McDonalds ! ! !

You are wrong

I used to work at McDonalds and yes, it was the autogreeter, and since they had just closed, they kept the outside lights on for safety. Maybe the signs they had up blew off because of the wind or something. Don't assume they are horrible people. Also, how does the lady being obese affect you? At least she told you they were closed. Don't put her down for her appearance just because you're pissed at something stupid.

How stupid can you be. I work at a restaurant that is closed on Sundays and when i go by there, there is always a line in the drive thru. I bet you are one of those people. So dumb. The kind of person who when I ask if they need any condiments they so no, just mayo. Wow. I wish I could be that stupid.  Have fun with your life being mad at yourself for being an idiot.

It is not the "lights" I am complaining about.  It is the banner, and the fat chick inside giggleing when I drove up the window ! ! !  I don't care if they leave their lights on. Why wasant the auto greeter set to say, "Sorry we are closed"?  What about the car ahead of me that did the same thing?

I do not work for the McDonald's that you have written about, but I do work of one. Fun facts about our company: number 1: we are not allowed to turn off all our exterior lights when we close. Reason is if something should happen to us, we can at least catch who did it via tapes. It is for safety reasons even at my McDonald's we have some of the exterior lights running even after we close. secondly: anyone that actually takes your order and punches it into the system, the total will be on the screen in front of you, plus at my store we will tell you the total of your order, so this person obviously did not take your order, they just failed to tell you they were closed. I have had people pull in my drive thru at 11 PM on the dot. Sometimes they catch me before I change our greeter, sometimes they don't. If I still have the set on my head, I will take their order and serve them. Third, yes our auto-greeter is not ever supposed to be turned off for any reason. In the evening we have a closing message on also. As far as the remarks that people need jobs etc, yes we need more jobs in our country. I drive 45 minutes every day passing 4 other McDonald's stores before I reach mine in a V-8 truck. I understand you are angry because the store was closed, however, some of us like me are working there BARELY making ends meet, and we have children to go home to. Our McDonald's is close to a freeway, therefore it makes us more prone to robberies, rapes, and other acts of violence. So even though it makes it safe for me, you are angry.

Tell you what: you can explain to my disabled 5 and 7 year old children how their mother was robbed and injured possibly killed because the lights were off. McDonald's does not want to make this call. The FTC BBB OSHA will all agree the lights will stay ON.

Yes they were wrong to mislead you into thinking that they actually took your order, I would complain to the store manager about that. I would be angry too, however do not get mad just because you burned up gas going through a drive thru, or that the lights were on, yet they were closed. The lights are a safety concern, the gas for your truck is your problem: I don't ask for money to fill up my V-8. I work for it.

From the OP:

"On Christmas Eve, I had to stop by the Pharmacy to pick up some last minute things for X-Mas. I waited.   And, I waited..."

The fact that you waited and waited would have been your first clue that they were closed. The closing manager probably forgot to turn the lights off. It happens. Incidentally, some businesses keep their signs on even after they close. That doesn't mean that they are open.

"Setting there burning up gas in a big 4 wheel drive pick-up."

If gasoline is an issue then perhaps you shouldn't be driving a "big 4 wheel drive pick-up" when you wait in the drive-thru of a closed restaurant.

"And I waited..."

We get that. I'd think that after a couple of minutes most people would go somewhere else.

"HOW RUDE MALLACED AND DECIEVING ! ! !"

Somebody would have to be there in order to behave rudely, with malice or to deceive you.

" If they are going to close, at least turn off the banners lights!!!   All other businesses did!!!  This is "false advertising"

It was probably a mistake. It's not that big of a deal. It's not false advertising to leave your lights on. Just move on.

"I am VERY UPSET and should follow through with complaints to the Federal Trade Commission, B.B.B., and every other conceivable web site on the internet!"

I doubt that the FTC cares about the lights at McDonald's. The fact that you are so angry over not getting some double-cheeseburgers is a bit strange.

"I then drove to the McDonalds on 202 E. And I waited, again burning up expensive gasoline in a big 4X4 pick-up truck."

Nobody cares how much gasoline you used. When you bought your big 4x4, you knew that you'd be spending a lot of money on gasoline.

"I then pulled around to the window where I observed a short young obese African American that was cleaning.   She tried to rudely ignore me and not to laugh.   Finally she waived to me saying, "WERE CLOSED".   I yelled, "Yes, but you took my order"!    Ok, I don't know who the jokester here is, but this joke is not going to be on me!"

The joke is on you. You made it into a joke by posting here.

"There are too many people out there who need jobs!   Evidently the false informer representing the McDonalds at 202 E. Rudisill Blvd., doesn't value their job enough?    Point blank: THEY SHOULD BE FIREED!"

How do you fire an auto-greeter?

"This is an act of malfeasance!"

You really don't know what malfeasance is, do you? Leaving th elights on at McDonald's is not an act of malfeasance. I'm not aware of any law that says McDonald's can't have their lights on.

"Must I repeat myself? "THIS JOKE IS NOT GOING TO BE ON ME"!!!"

Nobody would have even known about your issue if you hadn't posted about it. You made it into a joke!

It's Christmas Eve. I worked on Christmas eve. Not at that one, however. Are you really that stupid? The only days we close is Christmas eve to christmas day, and partly on Thanksgiving. You don't have to be a a on christmas do you? I hate customers like you. People need to go home too you know. We're not supposed to turn off the auto greeter. Ever. Did you even look to see if there were cars in both mcdonalds? If the parking lot is empty, don't you think that maybe no one is inside? Sometimes when were closed, I like to go by mine and see if anyone is in line, sure enough, people seem to think we're open. I will NEVER work on Christmas. They didn't even respond when you did order, so why did you think that they were even open? And the auto greeters turn on when you get onto the in ground platform. It's not 2-3 minutes. Don't b***h to us about your gas. I can't believe people..

You truly are special!  You blame them for buying a gas guzzling vehicle, you probably need a large vehicle from eating too much junk food.

Get some help with your anger issues, slow down and take life easier, with your current attitude, you won't be around long enough to make others miserable.

Ok so you are mad because they forgot to turn off the lights?  That's not a rip-off.  Not even close.  Perhaps you should realize that they probably closed early since it was Christmas Eve and wanted to go home to their families.
