McKeever Enterprises, Inc. ,Venture2000 Consumer Research Group ,Road Warriors Express NE Letter with check for $3865 offering a part-time mystery shopping job - bad check scam Omaha Nebraska

I rec'd a letter dated March 20, 2009 from Venture2000 Consumer Research Group at P.O. Box 450242, Atlanta, GA which included a check in the amount of $3,865 from McKeever Enterprises, Inc. at P.O. Box 29033, Omaha, NE drawn on American National Bank of Omaha, NE.

I took the check to my local bank. They called the bank on which the check was drawn and were told that the check was bad and that this is a scam.

The purpose of the check according to the letter was $300 for 3 hours probationary training pay at the rate of $100 per hour (for me), $200 funds for shopping or hotel lodging at Walmart, K-Mart, Sears, J.C. Penny, Best Western or Days-Inn. $165 for service charge by Western Union/Moneygram and $3200 required funds to be sent by Moneygram. Apparently the idea is to have you deposit the check and send them the Moneygram. Then the check bounces back on your checking account and you are ##!# out of luck. Meanwhile they have your (or my) wire for $3200 free and clear!

When I phone using the number on the letter to call them, the recording indicates that all lines are busy and to call back - no way to leave a message. I called twice. Meanwhile, I looked up McKeever Enterprises, Inc. on the internet and find that they have received a BBB 2006 Award for Integrity. I emailed Mr. McKeever - still waiting for a response.

So, tomorrow I will take this to the US Post Office as this is mail fraud. I do not know if they can do anything, as the letter was mailed from Canada. But, we shall see. Ironically, the outside envelope says "La fraude - Prevenez" (Fraud - Prevent it!)

When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
