I took my car to them to fix a number of issues: 1) a loud sqealing when the car was started 2) the rear shocks needed replacing 3) the front control rods needed replacing.  Simple maintence work; everything else worked perfectly.

They diagnosed the first problem as a bad belt and I paid for them to replace it.  The noise continued, so I took it back.  THIS time, they stated that the alternator wasn't seated properly and was causing the belt to slip, so I paid them to fix THAT.  The problem continued, so I returned AGAIN.  THIS time they said that the poor alignment of the belt had damaged the tensioner pulley, so I paid them to replace THAT.  Then the AC (which had been working beautifully) suddenly stopped working, so I retuned AGAIN.  THIS time they said that the new tensioner pulley was so tight that it had damaged the AC compressor clutch.  All of these problems and repairs are related to the same connected systems.

After the rear shocks were replaced, the car began making horrible loud rattling noises and rode so rock hard that I returned AGAIN.  They said that there was nothing wrong, they couldn't find anything that would cause the noise and that it had nothing to do with their work.  A nearby Goodyear shop told me that one of the "new" shocks they installed were blown (which Meineke denies of course).  A Firestone store and a AAA Car Care nearby also inspected the car and, after looking at the car, hearing the tale and seeing the invoices & work orders, both stated that I'd been "taken for a ride".

A mechanic I spoke to (who used to work for this Meineke franchise) told me that it was very common for their Columbus shops to "Domino" multiple unnecessary repairs on connected systems to increase sales and profits.  The location refuses to fix the problems.  I spoke with the local Franchise owner.  He also refused to help and, in fact, laughed and said that he felt like he was finally "getting even" with me over an unrelated business deal we had worked on together some years prior that didn't turn out as he'd planned.  I then contacted Meineke National Franchise HQ and was told " I'm very sorry, but we have no control over the actions of our Franchisees".  I reported them to the local BBB, but they never even bothered to respond to the complaint, even after being reminded.

I paid these thieves over $1,300 and all they did was create more problems with a car that USED to run pretty well.  Avoid these thieves at all costs.  You're better off riding the bus than having them work on your car!
