My wife inquired about a home-based company with Melaleuca, a BBB satisfactory company and whatever else they are (I will get into why they are in a minute).
She received the call from Stacie, a team mom from The M.O.M. Team. She informed my wife of the company and the fact that they sell natural products that are good for you... She informed my wife that she needs to spend 35 points (approx $50-$60) a month on cleaning items, health items, etc...

She then informed my wife of the business opportunity:
-- You have to bring individuals into the Melaleuca company to sell them items (not recruit)...
-- You get 7% commission from each person you bring in, on their total items purchased
-- Total Support from the M.O.M. Team...

She then went into detail that the M.O.M. Team is not a business, but a support group that helps out with Melaleuca. The M.O.M. Team is not on the BBB, but Melaleuca is... She informed my wife, if you want to make money, you will need each person under you to become a sales rep as well...and then you earn more commission!!

(Now, I used to work for a company called ----- (I know I know)...and I got majorly SCREWED from them!! So I am a little weary. This Melaleuca sounds awfully like ---- in certain aspects...but I will continue...)

After I did some research on Melaleuca, I have to admit I was impressed at first. I then did some research on The M.O.M. Team and found they are listed on BBB as independent representatives of the parent company...that's right you guessed it...Melaleuca! I brought this information to Stacie and she denied that they were on BBB...and informed me again they are only a support group. The BBB ONLY reports on businesses...that's why they are the BBB!

- I also found out later that you get 7% commission off of the 35 points for each member you sign up! No matter how much they spend (so where's the extra money going?)

The most suspicious aspect of everything is that you can't advertise the product...or use the name Melaleuca on any site...you must use the name The M.O.M. Team!

For individuals that say this isn't a pyramid...please take this into consideration...
- I know for a pyramid there isnt any merchandise to sell to clients...you have to buy the merchandise each month as stock...but you are still buying into the company!

Now...for Melaleuca, you have to spend AT LEAST 35 points each month (like a pyramid...spend X amount each month)!

They state you make money off of commissions...but you only get 7% of 35 points for each consumer you sign up no matter how much they spend...so you can't make any money that way!

The only way to make money is to sign up individuals as brokers and you earn off of their points and their consumer's points and so on and so on (like a down-ward spiral branching out...like in the shape of a pyramid!!).

To answer my statement above...since Melaleuca is the parent company of The M.O.M. Team...they are legally not responsible for The M.O.M. Team's code of ethics. Melaleuca is simply the company that makes the product and ships it...they have nothing to do with sales, as I have found out through resources. Therefore, they will ALWAYS have a satisfactory standing with the BBB! Isn't that just a load of junk!!

The bottom line is that don't go with this company! Once my wife informed her that we aren't interested she called us cheap for not shelling out the initial money...and just ranted and raved at how great this company is and wouldn't let my wife hang up the phone!

From just past experience...this company is full of it!! They state the same aspect as ---- did and the rest of the bad MLM companies. Do not buy into their scams! You will regret it (believe me...I did it once and won't do it again!!)

Satisfied Customer

AUTHOR: Jena - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 24, 2006

I am just writing to say that I have been involved with Melaleuca since February of this year.

I am very happy with the products and prefer them over store bought products because of their effectiveness, safety, and the moral ethics behind the company itself.

I got off to a slow start in building a business, but I am very satisfied with the way that melaleuca has compensated me for simply showing other people what a great company melaleuca is.

I was at first put off by the fact that you have buy 35 product points a month, but with over 300 products to choose from, I have found no problem in buying this amount every month. Melaleuca provides a unique and effective vitamin and supplement line, and if you truly care about your health, you would want to order these vitamins every month. And along with their laundry soap and toilitry products, it is very easy to meet the product point requirement every month.

I think if you really did the research and found out how melaleuca is truly improving lives and the environment, you would think twice about melaleuca.

I'm just trying to spread the word that are many satisfied customers. and there will be many more as melaleuca grows.

Not the best for single parents

AUTHOR: Dina - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, June 10, 2006

As one who sees both sides of peoples views of Melaleuca, I feel I need to provide my experience with the company. I got a call from a lady who called me from MomsWin who said this was a great opportunity to build a business and the costs would not be so much. I asked her if MomsWin is the company and she said yes but they represent another company that makes some of the best products in the world. I agreed to listen to the 30 minute intro and thats when the name Melaleuca was introduced.

I decided to commit afterward as I was impressed with what I heard. The only problem is that as I dont think Melaleuca and Moms Win are deliberately trying to scam people they arent open about everything. Isnt that how most companies operate though and just tell the consumer what they want to hear?

Well even with the discounts given as a member the products were still too expensive for me to afford. MomsWin kept telling me that these are products Im using anyway so its not really costing a lot. Well that was not true in my experience. The other thing that I was not told before I signed up was that to get people into the compancy and receive rewards you have to purchace leads. Boy those leads can really get expensive as well.

Unless you have a large friend and family base where you can have "Tupperware" or "Avon" parties if you will and get people to buy the products and be part of the Melaleuca team this really isnt for you. It sure isnt for single moms with one income. I had to keep my full time job and work overtime just to help pay for the leads and keep my product point requirement up every month(avg 55-60 dollars). If you have the money to invest or have a second income at home and can put in the hours of hard work then give it a try.

I wish I would have been in a position to keep it up but my kids were paying the price. A Melaleuca rep did tell me that they recently had been getting quite a few calls from single parent homes with one income that they are at a disadvantage when trying to build a business. They are planning to take steps to help with some of the costs of those single parents who really want the American dream and are working as hard as they can to build a business with Melalueca.

I was happy to hear that they understood and agreed that when you are going from paycheck to paycheck and barely have enough money to buy leads and invest the time that it would take to build a future with Melalueca, changes need to be made. They do seem to care that there should be no discrimination among anyone trying to build a better life and a single low income home should have as much of a chance to build as a family when two or more incomes with one member of the family with plenty more free time to focus on Melalueca.

Its been about a year and no changes have been made yet but Im still hopeful. Good Luck to all. Oh one last thing, people shouldnt get into this company if they arent 100 percent behind the products and believe that they are better than anything else out there on the market. I unfortunately couldnt say that as I have found products that are better and cheapier. My grandparents are 88 years old and raised 10 children and used products right out of WalMart and K-Mart.

How about Good Solid Facts VS Assumptions

AUTHOR: Lea Ann - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, May 28, 2006

Hi Daniel! I feel your confusion here (once confused myself)...Let me see if I can help you understand some of the WHY's. 1.Melaleuca is an online store 2. Like a Sam's club or wholesale club, there is a membership fee (fully refundable within 120 days) 3. You can shop and pay regular prices OR you can commit to purchasing at least 35 product points/month and receive Preferred Customer Pricing, monthly rebates and the oppurtunity to build a Melaleuca business(by referring customers) plus many other benefits. Kind of like referring a friend to an awesome movie that you saw...only Melaleuca pays their customers to refer others to the store where as a movie theater wouldn't. So...mental note, they pay their customers IF they choose to refer other customers. Consumer Direct Marketing.

When you 1st start your business, you get paid 7% commission on the points your customers order (up to 150pts/month/customer). They do this so stockpiling products is not encouraged. This is about real people, buying real products that they really use each month. I purchase no more than what I would normally go purchase at a different store. The difference...I save $, time and get products that I love AND are safe for my family. The more customers you refer the higher your commisions and bonus oppurtunities.

Now...the advertising...If people could advertise Melaleuca...How could we do word of mouth referrals? Not allowing Melaleuca to be advertised protects those that wish to build a business and refer other customers to the Melaleuca store. Every rule they have in place is to protect its customers and business builders. I thank them for that!!! Please tell me how this business could have 20 years of consecutive growth and profitibility... but "won't last like the others"....you haven't even tried the RISK FREE membership to have 1st hand knowledge of what you are talking about. I mean good grief people, it is a simple shopping decision to try a new store. Should you decide that you don't like the products and want to cancel and receive a full refund 1. mail in a letter of cancellation before the 25th of any month 2. return the business kit for a full refund on the membership price 3. return any products that you would like a refund for within 60 days of purchase. EMPTY bottle guarantee.

Unfortunately you and many others are making assumptions on a lack of knowledge. I'm really sorry that you were hurt in a previous business. But just because you are letting fear paralyze you and keep you in the same place in life doesn't mean that others should have to read your assumptions and have that same fear. This is a good honest business oppurtunity for average families that don't have the money to put into a traditional business. Please look more into the facts before submitting assumptions.

My experience

AUTHOR: Meg - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 24, 2006

I have been using Melaleuca products for about a year now, and I am so glad that I am! I lead a very busy life, so ordering products online and having them shipped right to me is wonderful. I also truly believe that the products are, in general, superior to those found in stores. I don't ever want to be without the laundry detergent, Sol-u-mel cleaner, or Renew lotion. I don't "harass" my friends and family, I have just shared the products and many have joined simply because they love the products too. So because I have introduced them to Melaleuca- through my support team (ie Mom team, Moms Win, etc) Melaleuca rewards me with a "commission". So, it is up to me to how many people I want to refer to Melaleuca as a preferred customer- that determines my reward. This can be a larger amount than the person who referred me is getting, which is why I don't consider it a pyramid scheme where you can not earn more money than the person "above" you, hence the term pyramid. The most important thing to remember is that you can cancel anytime.. if you find you don't care for the products Melaleuca will even take them back and refund the money. This is truly one of the best things that I decided to do for myself. I just wanted to share my experience, and let everyone know that Melaleuca does have many satisfied customers- and the support teams that referred us to Melaleuca are full of wonderful people!

Denies The M.O.M. Team is a Company Still

AUTHOR: Daniel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 19, 2006

First and foremost... Paula, you are quite confusing. You say that you do not work for them, but you state in your response that you are an EMPLOYEE... Which is it? If you do not work for them...you are a CONSUMER...

The statement that you gave sounds like something out of a script... Using the dish detergent stopped you from using an inhaler?

Come on...you actually don't think that we are going to believe this, do you?

The fact of the matter is that Stacie won't go onto BBB and see for herself. Melaleuca is a great company...please read what I wrote up top. You cannot complain about Melaleuca, but to everyone out there...Please research The M.O.M. Team, you will find the same information as I did.

Melaleuca is a rotten company, if you ask me. What GREAT company (Such as Melaleuca) wouldn't want you to use their name in advertising their product...? Please take a minute to think about that... That's like buying a McDonalds and you can't use their name...you have to call it something else... Why, why, why?? It just doesn't make sense to me...

Melaleuca is up there with the rest of the Pyramids...they just found a way to get around it a little bit, because you have to buy a product for your home rather then stock. But the rest of the scenario is the same as a Pyramid! Do some research into it...you don't get paid for the entire sale...just 35 points worth. Now, how do you make money...recruit individuals onto the team...hmmm...where else have I heard that.

Melaleuca is going to get shut down just like the rest of them...you just wait and see...

Melaleuca is the BEST thing that happened to me

AUTHOR: Paula - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 17, 2006

I was reading all the bad reports on this great company. I myself joined the MOM Team as a customer only. I wanted to try some products that would help me when cleaning my home. I started noticing that my dishwashing detergent was putting out a very strong steam with a chlorine stench to it. This was making me use my inhaler 2-3 times per day. I went on the internet looking for some products that were natural or non toxic and stumbled on the Melaleuca website. Now an acquaintance of mine had suggested I go to one of their presentations, but being the skeptic that I am I declined. I researched the company and decided to give them, the products a try. As soon as I substituted the Dishwasher detergent for the Diamond Brite Dishwasher detergent, I started to notice that I didn't need my inhaler anymore!! I had NEVER made the connection of the dishwasher steam and my health!! I was still skeptical and bought a Cascade with no bleach. It still made me sick. Well here I am now 2 weeks into Melaleuca and no inhaler!! Also my allergies seem to be getting better. I distinctly signed up for the buying priviledges only. i already make good money so I am not in it to make money. I will tell all my friends about it anyways because this is the best thing that has happened to me and my family. To all you naysayers, please read the fine print of anything you sign, and research the company's code of ethics, etc. So far I am VERY satisfied with their prices, products and results.
