My wife was let go from the Melting Pot on the 4th of July 2008. The reason they said was because she was looking for another job. More likely it was due to the fact she said she may have to find another job if they wouldn't help us out more with health benefits.

She also had a talk with her boss about some of the things he was doing at work. He shares his vicodin with people he works with and lets the males have special treatment because he chooses an alternative lifestyle. He also drinks heavily.

She made associate manager at the melting pot and during the interview was told that the health care was reasonable.When we received the benefit package the health care for a family was nearly 600 dollars a month. When you factored in how many hours she was working the pay was about 10.15 an hour.For a manager at a restaurant that the average bill is probably 80 dollars for a couple that is ridiculous. She was also told that she would only be closing 3 or 4 nights a week. It turned into more like 5 nights a week most weeks.

She was lied to at every turn. Finally they fire her and say it's because she was looking for another job. That's bad enough, but it gets worse. They tell her she can file for unemployment which she does. Then when we get the letter from the unemployment office we find out unemployment has been denied because the restuarant said they offered her, her job back as a server and she didn't take it which meant she quit.

What really happened was they said they would have to evaluate how busy it was and would get back to her on if she could work there as a server again. All in all it's been a pretty lousy time dealing with them and it's been a pretty poor way to treat someone who was doing a great job.
