Danger Homebuyer, Danger! 

If you are looking for a home look in the opposite direction of Mercedes.  I had Mercedes "build" my home in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  From the beginning there have been issues:

-Mercedes filed bankruptcy but said homeowners would not be impacted "it's only reorganization".  It later used the bankruptcy to get cancel our home warranties. Homeowners were told not to contact them during the bankruptcy process but Mercedes did not notify home owners about canceling the warranties. The customer finds out only if they call for a repair.

- The air conditioning was poorly configured and leaked. I had to pay hundreds of dollars to fix it because Mercedes refused to fix it.

-Mercedes will close out homeowner complaints when the issues remain.

- Mercedes refuses to honor the terms of the contract when it comes to working through issues.

- Customer service is poor.  The company will often ignore your request or worse.  When the regional manager came to my house about a complaint he was so caustic that I retreated to another part of the house and had to demand that he leave. 

- Chinese dry wall - Mercedes has failed to answer my questions about whether it used the dangerous Chinese drywall in my home.

- Mercedes will state it never got an email even though it responded to the email.

- The telephone tech said the wiring done by Mercedes is substandard and exposed.  Again, Mercedes will not fix it.

- We discovered a gas leak and had to evacuate the home.  The gas company told us to go a few blocks away.  The guy from Mercedes suggested that we stay in front of the house so that we not miss the repair person.

- The plumbing is done poorly and makes noise. A plumber said the job was done poorly and would have been fixed by a quality builder. Mercedes has been unwilling to fix the core issues.
