Boy I was almost taken by this company I have a mexican resturant and I had this guy come by my taqueria trying to get my statements me say to this guy they are going to give me the service for free he say...I am no stupid nothing is free. This S.A. tried to sell me 2 machines for my taqueria for a lot of money son added up the cost it would have cost me over $6000 dollars how is that free? They think because we are mexican we are stupid people and that I would every sign up with a company that tells people something is free me is not crazy.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds
Resturant Owner must have misunderstood
AUTHOR: Jesse - (USA)

I'm sorry, but you must have misunderstood what the sales rep was telling you. I use to be an employee at Merchant Pay Network and they are the most honest credit card processing companies out there. I have worked for 4 of them. Well them and Encore Payment Systems are the most honest. The SERVICE is free above cost. The terminals are not cheap, especially with this new chip card technology. It's just like when power steering came available, it was a high dollar option. This is a high dollar option. What MPN offers is free service. Sorry, but there are banks, processors, Visa/Mastercard/Discover/American Express, etc... who all charge to accept payment. I'm sure you have a rewards card, right? How do you think you get those rewards? Say, it's a Capital One Rewards Card... Capital One doesn't pay for it, you don't pay for it, the merchant pays you swipe your card at pays for it at the terminal, hence why the fees are higher.
I can attest that MPN was not out to screw you over. I was let go, so you would think I would be upset with them, which I am.... neutral at the moment with them, but I can atleast tell you that they were not screwing you over.
Here's how it works... You can either pay a premium for services or pay a premium for the terminals... or there are companies out there that will make you pay a premium for services. What they were offering was a free service. They were not going to charge you anything to process credit/debit cards. Only the issuing banks, Visa/Mastercard, etc... fees are paid. EVERYONE pays those fees. There is no way to circumvent the system. You cannot process your cards straight through Visa/Mastercard. It MUST go through a credit card processing company.
I'm sure they were trying to get you into a lease, which is why you came up with a $6,000 option for POS terminals. That is the top of the line model that protects you against fraud. You didn't have to go for that option, but with Smart Card technology already here, I got my 2 new Capital One Cards with SmartChip technology in them yesterday, you will now be liable for any fraud, however, if you have a terminal that accepts this new form of payment, the liability falls on the bank, not you as the merchant. Say you have a $200 chargeback.... You are on the hook, not Visa/Mastercard. You'd no longer be able to do anything about it.
Again, they weren't trying to screw you over. No, I do not work for them. I haven't worked for them since May of this year. I use to be a Sales Manager with them, so I know how they operated up to May. They are however under new management, but their philosophy is the same. Be different. You made a mistake by not hearing them out.

#1 UPDATE Employee
Pathetic ex-employee

When reading this complaint carefully, it becomes evident that this was not a Mexican restaurant owner complaining about our service. The syntax clearly reveals that someone is trying to disguise their identity by moronically pretending to be a Mexican restaurant owner.
We believe this dimwit is the same pathetic ex-employee that has made another anonymous, slanderous, and unsubstantiated claim. The use of “crazy” in both documents would seem to substantiate our belief that this is the same person. The only thing that’s crazy here is the deranged ranting of a disgruntled former employee trying to sully our reputation in a forum that does not allow the accused to face their accuser.
In the present post this individual goes from: “me say to this guy,” and “me is not crazy,” to “I told that guy…” and “I was not going to give him..” The most telling example of this fraud masquerading as a Mexican business owner has to be: “This S.A. tried to sell me…” This is clearly a pitiful, contemptible, and demeaning attempt to hide behind a fictional Hispanic business owner to conceal their own pitiful identity. If a Mexican used the term “S.A.” they would be referring to something akin to an LLC. What do you think, “ese?”
