I was called and asked if I wanted to work from home introducing local businesses to MRS and reduce their service charges.

My family has a restaurant and a large volume of charges so we were very interested.

One issue is the obligation a merchant has to their existing provider.  I knew that so I was absolutely clear when I asked and was told that MRS would buy the obligation.

In fact, when we were told that was NOT the case, I called the original agent selling me the business opportunity.  She again confirmed the fact that she was told that MRS would buy out the obligation.

In other words, the agent is told to tell the prospect a lie. ( I'm assuming she was telling the truth because she appeared to be most sincere.)

I asked for my fees be returned and we can part as friends, I was told the fees are not refundable.  I said, it is refundable in spite of the company's policies because of fraudulently soliciting my interest.

I have reported them to the Arizona Attorney General and plan further reports and also expect to take them to Small Claims Court.

Merchant Referral Solutions In Real Life.

AUTHOR: ChristinaT - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, February 20, 2010

I'm sorry to hear that people have had bad experiences with Merchant Referral Solutions. I joined as an affiliate in late October of 2009 and haven't been promised anything that wasn't delivered. There are others out there who are also having a good experience with Merchant Referral Solutions. With Merchant Referral Solutions, or any other company that approaches you by phone, the best way to protect yourself is to get whatever your'e promised in writing. What happened to the people who had bad experiences is why salespeople have such bad reputations. There are other companies in business right now who have been in business for years, and have had problems with the way they treat customers, the public, etc. Merchant Referral Solutions is still a relatively new company, and I plan to treat people the way I would want to be treated as an affiliate. I've also been a small business owner and landlord with my husband for more than 25 years, so I'm used to getting things in writing.

The BBB is onto them

AUTHOR: Lisa - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, December 19, 2009

As one of the many victims of this company, I'd like to help spread the word that the Better Business Bureau recently released this article about MRS:

"Better Business Bureau is alerting consumers across the country about Maximum Business Concepts, a Phoenix-based company, also known as Merchant Referral Solutions (MRS) that targets unsuspecting consumers who are looking for a work-at-home opportunity. According to BBB records, MRS began operating on August 31 of this year and has received significant file activity. Over 2200 consumer inquiries via telephone and web were processed by BBB since then, and over 700 of them in the last 30 days.

Merchant Referral Solutions contacts consumers via telephone and offers them an opportunity to work from home as an affiliate, selling credit card terminals to merchants in their area, said Carrie Lorimer, BBB Director of Operations. Once the consumer agrees to pay a monthly web hosting fee to sell their product, they are billed an additional amount for training materials that were not disclosed at the point of sale, Lorimer added. Complaints filed by consumers stem from refund issues to high pressure sales tactics. According to information in BBB files, customers purchased a business opportunity with MRS for $150 to $500 plus an additional $19.95 per month for a personal website. Complaints also allege that after the product was purchased, consumers were then contacted by affiliates of MRS and were pressured into purchasing an advertising campaign with costs up to $35,000.

MRS typically responds to complaints by stating they are not responsible for refunding their affiliates charges and that MRS charges are non-refundable. MRS currently has an F rating with BBB due to the length of time the business has been operating, concerns about the industry in which it operates, and 21 complaints filed against the business, two of which were unresolved and three serious complaints. Additionally, the company has 12 pending complaints on file."
