I admit, when I was younger I was a litte irresponsibe with money issues. I did'nt realize how important credit is, but in the last few years I have managed to pay off all the outstanding debts. I could'nt believe I had missed one.
I recived a letter from Merchants' Credit Guide Co. this afternoon, saying that I owe "Sprint Communications Com" $205.85. I knew at one time I owed sprint some money, and as my records show, it WAS paid off... not for the amount they're requesting, but for only $91.
I tried to call the company, however it's Saturday today and the office is'nt open... so I turned to the web. After a few tries I found this website, and could not believe my eyes! The exact names I was looking for are named for fraud! Thank goodness for the internet or I probably would have sent these jerks a check!!!
I'm not sure what to do about this from here, but at least I'm not out a couple hundred dollars!!

Don't call them!

All your contact should be in writing. Send them a certified letter, with return receipt and tell them you dispute this debt. Demand they provide VALIDATION of debt (not verification but validation) and request they provide you with paperwork that clearly shows you have a legal obligation to pay the money they say you owe, ask them to prove the Statue of Limitations on this debt has not run out. Demand they provide documentation that proves you owe what they say you do. Don't call them. Do everything in writing and make sure you retain proof of the correspondence you send.
