My wife received a letter (addressed to her maiden name) stating collection of debt for $5387.52, or 3 other payment options. This debt is over 10 years old.

I am sending them a expired SOL cease and desist letter certified mail, and a copy to the CA and IL attorneys general, and other consumer agancies.
