Merchant's Tire charged me $99 to do a "check engine" code read. This took 5 minutes.

This check is FREE at Advance Auto which came up the with the identical code in 5 minutes as I watched.

The code reader was on sale at Advance for $150.

Stay away from Merchant's Tire.

For Real?

AUTHOR: Really - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 01, 2015

Since the check engine light check is free at Advance Auto Parts, for which you admitted on your post, then why go to a company that charges you for it?  This is not a rip off by any means.  You decided to cheat yourself out of $99 and want to blame someone else for it.  Well guess what, you can't.  The old saying is true; "you better shop around", and "there's a sucker born every minute".  You are guilty of both.
