On 4/7/16, I was experiencing some severe lung issues and needed to get after hours care at our Emergency Room. @ Mercy Medical . I arrived at the ER about 1 am. I filled out the needed paperwork and waited to be seen. The waiting room was not too busy so i thought that I would bee seen rather quickly. I wated for over an hour and then was called back for a x- ray of my chest, The x-ray completed then I was told that I had to go back to the waiting area and wait as there were two people ahead of me. Ok, I then waited for another two hours before I go up and asked how much longer it would be?
The receptionist said well with it being the ER you never know how long it will be. That was not a good enough answere. So I informed her that I was getting tired along with feeling poorly, she called back and spoke with one of the nurses and explained that I was wanting to just go home after waiting for what was amost two hours. So finally what seems like an eternity the nurse comes out and tells me that it would be another hour before I would be able to be seen & that they only have one Physiacian on the floor of the ER What !! I was at this time so tired that I just wanted to go home and go
to sleep and deal with this issue in the morning. I needless to say didnt stay. I filled out a release form and was
happy to get the hell out of there. I dont understand why you would only have one ER doctor for a town of people
whoever made that decision needs to be fired. Just idiocy to make people waith that long.

ER's are for EMERGENCIES...

The fact that you were able to "just deal with the issue in the morning" and you are still not only among the living but well enough to post a report just a few hours after your ordeal, says one thing about your condition...it wasn't a life and death emergency.
You see ER's see people in order of PRIORITY not arrival. If you have a cold or a minor case of bronchitis it could be several hours before you are seen. In a "big city" ER people have been known to wait 8+ hours. But if you come in coughing up blood and are hardly able to stand up..yea you go to the front of the line. Oh and not everyone comes in through the waiting area...there is a totally separate entrance for people who come in via ambulance and even ones who may have an emergency while in the hospital.
While I don't know what your "lung issue" was, I would bet that your x-ray was at least reviewed and not demed that serious. As if it was serious, you would have been seen quicker.
