I went to the Mercy San Juan Hospital Emergency Room when I fell off my motorcycle. They took an X-ray and had me set in the Waiting Room. After 30 minutes the Doctor said I cracked my Tibia and I needed to contact my Orthopedic Doctor. My father in law went home for some old crutches and I left.
The bill for one X-ray was $17000. My insurance padded $9000. They want me to pay another $2000. I have ask for an itemized statement over a dozen times. I never get one. All I get is a bill with a bunch of code numbers. Their bill collectors call me at work all the time and they can't say anything except "that's how much it cost. Pay the bill."
They didn't do any test. They didn't put a brace on. They didn't give me a pain pill. They did nothing except take an X-ray. These people are flat out crooks. They have a license to steal when they stick a clip board in your face and say to sign it. They don't have to answer to anyone. I lucky they didn't charge 2 million instead of a paltry seventeen thousand. If a mechanic doesn't fix a $10 part on your car the right way, the state is all over them. But a hospital can bankrupt you and you don't even have the right to see a bill that a normal person can read. I wonder who's on the take in this deal?

Mercy San JUAN?? anyway - You went the the ER therefore if you feel you were overchargedn have your insurance company dispute it or ask the hospital for a detailed record of all charges - I work for a company that owns hospitals and every facesheet for ER visit state every charge and cost of that charge period -
Bill collectors do not have an itemized breakdown of the charges just the bill outstanding (and believe me I cannot stand bill collectors) A breakdown of all charges will be in your billing file so contact the billing office
