I received a letter from MerryWeather Monitoring & Research Group informing me that I was selected to participate in a paid Consumer Research Program in my area of residence as a Mystery Shopper. Enclosed was a check drawn by KeyBank National Association for $3880.00.  I was to deposit this check and my assignment and payments are as follows:

 

Probationary Training Pay:                                         $400.00

Funds for shopping:                                                  $100.00

Funds for transaction at Moneygram or Western Union:   $3,130.00

Service Charge (Moneygram or Western Union)              $240.00

Get a cashier's check any bank payment to yourself:      $10.00

Total:                                                                                     $3,880.00

A banker friend of mine contact the check-issuing bank who confirmed the check was a counterfeit. DO NOT CASH THIS CHECK OR DEPOSIT INTO YOUR ACCOUNT! YOU WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR RETURNED CHECK FEES AND POSSIBLY BECOME FLAGGED OR THE SUBJECT OF AN INVESTIGATION!!!
