I purchased a corset from Meschantes for my wedding almost three years ago. I have never experienced the level of customer service they gave--it was beyond awful. They may have had to take classes to learn how to give the most shoddy customer service possible.
Right after I ordered I thought things were going well. There were a number of emails that went back and forth, and I felt like they were taking care of my needs. After several delays (which I didn't think anything of), the corset finally came in the mail. Here is the email I sent them: (5/16/2010)

I received the corset in the mail on Saturday. The fabric is lovely and it fits well, but the corset itself isn't what I ordered.
There are several things done differently on the corset I received than the corset I ordered, but the most major change is the neckline. I ordered the Thunder corset minus the front busks. Instead, the corset that I ordered has the neckline of the Giselle corset. When looking for a bridal corset I specifically searched for a sweetheart neckline. The Thunder corset has that, plus the lace-up addition. That was actually what made me decide to order from Meschantes instead of any number of other companies I considered. Y'all offered what I wanted when no one else did. I was very disappointed to see such a major change to the order.
There were a few other changes as well, I highlighted the text from the email I sent you on April 25, 2010:
"Around the middle I'd like a lace detail similar to the one on the pale green Giselle corset pictured on your website. In the picture it has a black lace "belt" over a solid green corset, and black satin ribbon with a bow on the lace. For my corset I'd like the same "belt" but white lace with pale blue satin ribbon. No bow in front. The same green Giselle corset also had matching lace shoulder straps. I'd like shoulder straps on mine as well (matching the "belt," white lace with pale blue ribbon), but made to be removable. The top and bottom of the corset should have blue contrast casing, to match the belt. "
There was a bow, the straps were stitched in (not removable) and casing for the corset was cream instead of blue.
In addition, I purchased 3 corset liners for $20 that were not included in the shipment at all.
Contrary to some warnings that were given to me before I placed my order, I have been very impressed with your customer service so far. Your communication has been wonderful. I'm also pleased with the quality of workmanship in this corset, and in the fit. It felt perfect when I tried it on. I've already recommended your company to one lady and know others I would like to pass your name on to. I'm looking forward to resolving these issues and becoming a continuing customer.

I was contacted on the following day (May 17) and told the designer would be contacted when she returned to work in two days. On May 19th I was asked to return the corset. It was in the mail by May 20th. On May 21st I was told, "The designer will contact before she makes any changes :-)"
One week later (may 27th) I asked if thy had received the corset. No reply. I tried again on May 29th, emailing: "I checked the delivery confirmation and it said the corset was delivered on Saturday, May 22--one week ago. I hadn't heard from y'all--is everything alright?" This time I did get an answer, "Yes, the designer has it."
I attempted to contact them several more times, each time receiving no answer. Finally I sent this email on June 11, 2010:
I ordered my corset 2 months ago, twice the promised "one month" turn around, and I still do not have the finished result. I would be understanding of this if we were communicating about what is being done to correct the problem, but it has been nearly 3 weeks since the designer got my corset, and I still haven't been contacted about it, except to confirm that you have it.
My wedding is rapidly approaching, and I need the corset for fittings. I can't continue to delay those for you much longer without risking not having a dress at all for the wedding. If the corset is not going to be completed in a timely manner (it already has been twice the amount of time we agreed on when I paid), could you please let me know and provide a refund so that I can shop elsewhere?
That email received a reply the same day, assuring me that the designer had finished the corset and would ship it that weekend.
10 days later I received the finished corset. It was still incorrect. In addition, they did not send the corset liners I'd paid for. I wrote them about this, and was promised the liners would be sent immediately. No response about the incorrect corset. On June 24th I wrote:
Thank you for sending the liners. I will expect them by the end of the week.
As for the corset, the one you sent me is NOT the corset I ordered, as I specifically asked for the Thunder Corset, and the top of this corset is the Sweetheart corset--NOT the Thunder corset. In addition, the sleeves again were not made to be detachable, as I originally requested, and as you specifically promised to do. I'm sending a picture of that as well.
Both of these items (the incorrectly done top and sleeves) were things requested in my original order, and specifically noted as done incorrectly in my letter about the previous corset you sent me. I have attempted to be very clear in my communication, so I am mystified as to why my order has been filled incorrectly two times now. I have had to delay my wedding dress fitting because you did not fill my order promptly and correctly as promised.
I hoped that I would be able to take action against this company because I had purchased through ebay (this company sells both through their website and through their ebay store. I'd chosen to purchase through ebay because I thought it would be a safer way to purchase if they were not an upstanding company).
Unfortunately, I was unaware that ebay has a 90 day limit on reviewing. By this time it had been over 3 months since I purchased due to their incorrect work an long delays between communication. I now believe the delays were planned, so I would NOT be able to leave negative feedback.
I never received the corset I ordered, I was never given a refund. The incorrect work was never acknowledged, and no apology of any sort was issued.
Please, please--do not give this company business. If you want to give them money, go ahead--but don't expect to get any merchandise in return. I have never experienced customer service this awful. My wedding was three years ago, and I still remember this experience as one of the only things I would have changed about an otherwise perfect event.
