I bought a roof from them in the fall. At the end of winter it leaked water into the basement, and squirrels got into the attic because installers left the peak vents holes open into the metal roof cavity.
I called them and reported the issues, and the installer said he would order a piece and come out to fix the problem. I e-mailed the company saying I thought it was more of a design problem, now no one will return my call and no one came out to my house. It seems like the company told the installer not to take my phone calls.
I currently have a complaint filed with the bbb, and will get a lawyer if the company dosen't respond the the bbb.
The intallers name is Derek Myhand owner of DTK Builders LLC, and the sale rep was Chad Minnema.

#5 REBUTTAL Owner of company
misleading
AUTHOR: DEREK - (United States of America)

I am Derek Owner of DTK Builders. If you have an issue with someone young who owns his own business you should of said someting before we started. Me and my crew are all trained and certified in any and all products we install. I Myself have over 15 years experiance in the roofing field and have owned my own business for 10 years. I also have over 5 years intalling custom meatal roofs with hundreds of roofs all over the state and thousands of satified customers and i am sorry your just one of those customers that cannot be satisfied. Chads comments were correct he just has the wrong name because chead discussed those very same things with me before i started your job. I discussed this issue with Mr. Brand and he is acting like he knows all about this product line. His basement is leaking due to his house foundation not the roof. It is not leaking in the house just the basement. I tried to explain this to him but he refused to listen. As far as the venting for the peak he did not purchase the ridge vent system with this roof so I cannot install material that was not ordered because he did not want it. And with this roof system you put down the ice/shield then 2X2 wood strips and the gutter apron and shingle system sits on the 2x2 wood strips so there is no way for the ice/shield to go over the gutter apron as he suggest. If this was done this way the ice/shield would not be able to adhere to the roof decking it would just hang in between the 2x2 wood strips. As far as your gutters are concerned we did not remove the bracket system for your gutters we pulled the plastic gutter out of the brackets and reinstalled them in the brackets after the roof was tore off, So the gutters went back into the same exact position they were into before we removed them cause we did not remove the brackets.
Its funny how your story changes from this report and the one on the bbb.

Alright, not sure if you are thinking about the same job since my name is not Bill. Since you might be thinking of another job I will go over what is wrong about your statment. In regards to not notifing you, i sent you an e-mail about the situation and did not recieve a response from you. Then I checked the BBB and they said you might be out of business.
I didnt have squirrels in the attic before the new roof was installed. Thier was an issue with bats due to a worker leaving a soffit open over night. That was fixed the next day, over a year before the new roof was installed. I did express my concern about bats nesting in the roof cavity between the ice-n-sheild and the metal. You said the they cant get in there. Even though bats can enter a gap of 1/2 inch and there are tons of them in this roof design.
DTK Builders have not returned my phone call or have came out to the house to look at the problem. They also have not responded to the Better Business Buero, which Metal Pro knows and why they suggested in thier rebuttal to sue them for non responsiveness. (Even though they wont return my phone call and tell me that)
DTK Builders didnt do a good job. Here is a list of things they did wrong: Installed drip edge over ice-n-shield, left peak vents open and said no critters could get in there (I even gave them screen to cover the vents), re-installed gutters so they are pitched the wrong way, installed peak cap so in doesnt cover the peak correctly, a corner where there are gutters he didnt put the flashing into the gutter(even after I asked him to), didn't use plyons in some places(the metal roofing is screwed into the ice-n-sheild instead), where a valley meets water pools and leaks into the basement (I expressed my concerns to you and DTK Builders about this area and both of you said it wont be a problem) , all down the over hang there is a line of screws sticking one inch out because he didn't change screw size and used to long of screws.
When you did an estimate you were very nice, but the problem is that you might have been selling a roof that would give you the best commission, not the roof the was best suited for my house. I made very clear the issues I had and asked for solutions. According to proffesionals you should have sold us the regular metal roofing, not the cedar shake looking metal tiles. The cedar shake metal tiles allows water to back up them in the freeze and thaw cycles, the regular metal roofing doesnt. You recomended the cedar shake tiles to solve my problems and said water wont back up them. I dont know if that was because you would get more commission or your lack of knowledge or both.
So this is why people should stay clear of Metal Pro, they will hire sale reps and installers as independent contractors who can sell you a line of bull. When the contractors mislead, have lack of knowledge/skill, and mess things up Metal Pro can pull the " Were are like Menards" card and take no responsibilty for who they send to your home. Then hire new sales reps and installer if they get sued out of business and begin the cycle again.
If you are looking for a new roof save yourself the trouble and hire a local company that takes responsiblity for thier team.

Hello my name is Chad **** & I would like to clear a few things up here. I do not represent Metal Pro Roofing anymore, however I can tell you it is thee best roofing material in the business & DTK Roofing is the best roofing contractor that I have worked with in 14 years. While I like Bill, I think he is a great guy the product nor the install has anything to do with the issues on his house. DTK builders has been in contact with Bill & Bill does not want to accept that the issues he is having has nothing to do with his roof.
First, when I went to look at Bills house he was having issues with squirrels getting in the house before DTK put the roof on his home. I made it very clear to Bill that the roof may not be his issue for the squirrels. He said he understood but that he thought it was. I made it very clear that if the roof was not the only way the squirrels were getting in that the roof would not solve the problem. He said that he understood.
Second, Bill said the roof is leaking. This again is not true. DTK Roofing went out there to inspect when Bill said he had a leak right away. DTK determined that there was no leak in the roof. Bill felt that is was because he had water in his basement. DTK made it very clear that water in the basement has nothing to do with the roof. This is very old house on a lake. My personal residence was built in 1880 & I have water in my basement all the time. That doesn't mean that it is from a faulty roof. DTK has done 100's of metal roofs in his career & I can assure if there has been a valid leak it has been fixed in a very efficient timely manner. DTK & myself are individuals of integrity we do not run from issue's.
I decided to post here because obviously Bill found it necessary to involve my name on here, mainly though because it is the right thing to do. Bill is mistaken here, I wish him the best however I have never personally received a call from him. Funny, how someone never call you but they feel confident to use your name in an improper manner. This does not show a lot of character on Bills part though. Although I think Bill is still a nice guy I am disappointed he is trying to make Metal Pro Roofing, DTK or myself look bad for issues that have nothing to do with us.

Menards doesn't send a sales rep to your house and mislead you to believe that he and the installers work for them. We didn't have a choice on who installed the roof. The sale rep said we had to use metal pro trained installers, they were extensively trained, and had many years of experience. The installer that came was a kid with two younger helpers, one with a year experience, and the other with less. Does this installer still work for you? Are you still sending him to your customers home to do bad work?
I started a dialog with your designer Eddie, and then your whole company stopped returning my phone calls. You say you want to help and assist with repairs, please send out a "metal pro trained professional" to do an repair estimate, since i cant have anyone else fix it or it would void your warranty. I would call 800-848-roof to request that, but that number you gave is not a working number... it seems like what you wrote was just to save face.

Clarification This is DTK Builders not the Manufacturer of the product
AUTHOR: Cornett Roofing - (United States of America)

Metal Pro Roofing is a manufacturer of metal roofing products, not a contrcator in Wisconsin. If a person went to Menards then hired another company to install the window. Menards cannot be held responsible. DTK Builders is you contractor in this matter, they were the company you paid to install the product. Leaking is always the result of workmanship and not product. The contractor is required to honor workmanship warranties. If you know the Company name my suggestion is to file a BBB report on this company, or sue them for non responsiveness. As Metal Pro cannot control all projects installled, all we can do is advise you on best practice to resolve this.
I understand how frustrating it is, Metal Pro's factory is in Frankin Indiana, sevreal hundred miles from Wisconsin, and without knowing your exact location maybe further. We have foctiry reps available to assist in repairs thoug hthere is a charge for this service, as we did not issue an installed solution for your project.
If we can help you in any way, please contact the office at 1800-848-ROOF, we will assist you if possible.
