Metro Movers Patrick Curley Stole Money Albuquerque New Mexico

I found the company on Craigslist advertising. I needed help with a move and they showed up 2 days later to start. They told me it would be $1500 to move from Albuquerque to Salt Lake City UT and as I was not using Hire A Helper that was a discount. Half down and the remainder upon delivery. 2 hours later Patrick Curley (owner) called me back and told me that they needed me to drive down to Uhaul to pay the Uhaul company as they were renting/driving the truck. We found out upon arriving that Patrick had a block on his Uhaul account and was prohibited from doing business with their company. His partner was also blocked due to DUI from driving. The job was called off as a result on the way back and I was told that the $750 I had given them would be returned. I followed up approximately 3 days later as the funds had not been returned and was told that his bank had told him that the funds had to clear before they were returned. I followed up almost daily after that and was given updates that the check had not cleared. After 2 weeks I spoke with Patrick and was told that the funds had cleared and I was asked for my account and routing number to return the funds. This was provided and the next day I received a charge on my account for almost $200. He has not returned a call or text since and has been unreachable for almost 2 weeks now. My money still has not been returned. Looks like I will have to pursue using small claims court and will be filing paperwork tomorrow.
