I saw a craigslist ad for a Nikon D7100 camera with lenses. I contacted the seller Francis Ortiz, and he directed me to purchase via his website http://www.mexcellular.net. I went to the website, clicked Buy Now and filled out the form. Very soon after that, I was sent an email that contained an invoice and the URL to pay for the camera.
After I paid, the seller sent me an email thanking me for paying and telling me the item would ship on the next day. The following day I was told the item would again ship the next day. After not hearing anything for a few days I wrote Francis Ortiz back, I received a reply saying “r Francis is currently not available to provide you with updates in regards to your recent purchase from Mex Cell due to some family emergencies. Please contact his chief co-coordinator Mr Steve at for more details and updates regarding your order”
When I wrote Steve Kaiser, he sent me the following email
“The shipping has been made to you and delivery will be made to you, the only delay right now is you need to make payment for the Insurance and VAT fee, i was also informed that you will be getting the Insurance fee at the point of delivery but you wont be getting the VAT fee back, the Insurance fee is $385 and the VAT fee is $15 making the total payment of $400 and you will be getting the $385 back at the point of delivery, i need you to get back to me ASAP so that there wont be any delay in the delivery of your order, i want to assure you that you for nothing to worry about once this payment is made the delivery will be made to you and there wont be any delay again and its assured you will surely be getting the Insurance fee back at the point of delivery and this is 100% guaranteed.”
Since this was not what we agreed on, I asked them to refund my money (pointing out that their website says it offers 100% Money Back Guarantee). They never replied and further emails from me were ignored.
Do not do business with http://www.mexcellular.net
They are a scam company

Mexcell scam

I came across with mexcell on the craigslist too.
Someone offered a digital camera and the location was New Haven, CT. I asked he still has the camera. The repply was:
"The Nikon D600 is still very much available in stock. All brand new and factory sealed. Comes with the standard 12 month Nikon Warranty and we also offer 1 month return policy. Each device retails for $1100 or you can get the Camera plus the 18-200mm Nikkor VR2 Lens for a total of $1500"
Two red flags; 1. The D600 out of stock everywhere. 2. The offered lens not suitable for this camera, because it is designed for cameras with smaller sensor.
Then I asked where he is located:
The answer was:
"We ship from Denver Colorado and We offer free delivery via FedEx with guaranteed overnight service after payment verification. Payment will be via credit card or paypal. www.mexcellular.net"
Red flag No3: If they in colorado, why using CL in Connecticut.
I did a quick search. The site only two months old, it hides itself from tracking, ownership is in Australia, site is in Great Britain, Shipping from Colorado, but advertising in Connecticut.
The last word what comes in my mind: legit
My third email was: "Let's do cash businnes." No answer since.
Be aware!!!!!!!
