On 8-28-06 I contacted Super Shuttle for a ride to the airport on 8-29-06. My pick-up was confirmed for 4:00 am.

At 3:30 the next morning the dispatched called and reported my driver had been in an accident and could I take a taxi to the airport? She said I would be reimbursed the difference between the $26 SS fare and the cost for the taxi. All I needed to do was to send them my cab receipt and I'd be reimbursed.

I did as she said and it has been 9 weeks since I sent my reimbursement request. I'm still waiting to hear from them.

I don't know if I'll ever collect my $45 but the taxi driver told me Super Shuttle is known for cancelling at the last minute either because of the customer's location or too few drivers.

Taxi cab companies love Super Shuttle!

X-Driver for Super Shuttle

AUTHOR: Brooklyn John - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, November 21, 2010

I was a driver for Super Shuttle Miami and there is some things you should know.  Drivers are paid by COMMINISSIONS (23% - 27%) AND TIPS, Drivers pays all tolls form their own pocket, Super Shuttle stop reimbursting tolls since 2006.

Drivers complain constantly about the condition of the vehicles and/or the lack of maintence.  Just about every day, a van has to be towed back to base and sometimes 2 or more times a day for the same reason.  Air Condition don't work in some vehicle or stop workng when the vehicle not moving for a period of time.  Drivers also complain that there are not enought vans for everybody.  Drivers are not paid for the time they have to wait for vans (sometimes bwtween 5 minutes to way over 1 hour of more and some just leave and don't work for that day).  Sometimes drivers are forced to work extra run when they are getting close to end their shift (I have made a run to Palm Beach when I had all ready have about 8 hours or more for the day - a Palm Beach trip can take up to three hours round trip - even worst with rush hour traffic).  Sometimes I will take van in bad shape hoping it will break down so I can leave early and/or need the make money that day.  Sometimes I get a van and I took it to the repair shop for mechanical problems.

Some of the vans will fail inspection. Mechanics can't get enough funding for parts for vans and paid little wages, below of what a real mechanic should get.  Sometimes mechanics will take a look and do nothing.  Oil, coolant or freon leaking. just add more instead of finding the location of the leak.  Need parts, take it from another vehicle that's no longer in service.  Need van to pass inspection, swith with another van that passed inspection (seats, doors etc).  Take a look at the base off the 112 Expressway and NW 27 Ave behind the Wendy's and you can see the the broken down vans

Management is Super Cheap and it's shows.  Next time you arrive in Miami Airport and going to South Beach, take the cab, rent a car or take the Miami-Dade County Transit Airport Flyer (route 150) Fare is $2.35 per person and runs about every 30 minutes (at the top and bottom of the hour) from 6 AM - to 11 PM and you could get there faster.  I won't use be callling them for transportation, I will not use then period !

Well, I did fall for the scam and you're right.... Super Shuttle should have paid up front vs. me having out-of-pocket expense.

I'll never call SS for airport transportation again.

Thanks for the comment.

I can't believe you fell for that

If the SS had any intention of actually reimbursing you the difference in transportation cost, THEY would have sent a cab over to pick you up and provided THEIR credit card number to the cab driver so that you would not have to pay anything up front or at all.

Having to pay for the ride yourself and then mail your receipt to SS is quite a red flag if you know what I mean. Tell me, did you keep a copy of your receipt for your records, or did you mail your only one?
