My girlfriend and I had scraped together just enough money to have her boat repaired in time to enjoy it for the summer.  We had a pretty good idea what needed to be corrected.  We knew it was going to require some parts, and we also wanted it to be completed in time for my son's visit earlier this month in June.  We found the following ad on Craigslist:

It looked like just the person we needed for the job.  I contacted via CL and got a very quick response from Mr. Michael Kovaleski.  He then called me and said that all of his appointments for the next day had cancelled, and so he was free to come over and check out our boat the next day at 9 a.m.  This would be the one and only time that he did what he said.  He arrived and basically confirmed the repairs that we had thought needed to be made...Steering cable, wiring harness for gauges etc..  (In retrospect- all he did was repeat back to us what we had told him)  He told my girlfriend and I that he didn't have the money for the parts, but that if he had money he could probably get it up and running either later that day or the next day.  So we wrote him a check for $525 and that would be the last we would see of him.  He had originally committed to be back later that day, then the next day, then it was a part problem.  So I am suspicisios right from first time, but I keep telling myself that if he really just wanted to "beat" us out of the money, he wouldn't even bother calling.  Then his wife was involved in a car accident , having hit a telephone pole right in front of Union Station, that bought him another day.  Meanwhile over a week has gone by.  Well as of this past Friday, he has just stopped returning phone calls or text messages.

Here is my take on this guy:  I think he might even be well intentioned, meaning that he probably started out thinking that he would repair our boat, but when it became more involved that what he had originally anticipated, he had no choice but to just vanish....Either because he has no idea how to even work on a boat, or because he needed the money to finance some other purchase like drugs.  The guy acts and talks like an active drug addict, with tons of excuses and sad stories.

Ater looking into his background a little deeper, which by the way we obviously should have done first, I see that : he has an arrest for possesion of controlled substance, he has a number of small claims civil cases .  I also saw that someone posted another complaint on this site just yesterday...So whatever it is that is wrong with him and is causing him to feel like he needs to steal from other people, it iis getting worse.

So whether you are needing house repairs/remodeling or boat repair or whatever else, BEWARE  OF MICHAEL KOVALESKI......HE IS AN ACTIVE DRUG ADDICT AND WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY.

Kovaleskis Character is Horrible

AUTHOR: John - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, March 04, 2014

Unfortunately for Mr. Kovaleski his rebuttal does not have a shred of truth to it. He was arrested for fraud in regards to attempting to obtain perscription drugs shortly after he wrote it. This means that he is both a drug addict and extremely dishonest. Please don't take my word for it. You can verify it on Vinelink. He also told numerous individuals he had spinal cancer which he does not as he could not furnish any medical records with a diagnosis of cancer to the courts to receive medical attention while in prison. He does have Hepatitis C from shooting up drugs. He tells people he has cancer to gain pity because he knows the average Joe isn't going to extend pity and money for a disease that was aquired by shooting heroin into his veins. This is not the first person or the last he has conned and again this can be verified on case net where he has over 6 small claims judgements against him for consumer fraud as well as not paying rent, expired tags, driving while suspended, DUI's, and drugs. Channel 9 KMBC in Kansas City investigated Michael Kovaleski in depth and he was caught on camera lying numerous times. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TINjXw7p7z4 It is in the best interest of the community to get the word out as he will continue to con and play games. Please do not take my word for it utilize valid sources such as Case net, Vinelink, Police Reports, Background checks, etc. etc. He has done this in other states as well. His criminal record dates back 20 years not his actual business. He is out of prison and him and his girlfriend are back on Craigslist so consumers beware.

What a joke

AUTHOR: Darren - ()

POSTED: Thursday, July 11, 2013

Only a drug addict could lie to himself and the rest of the world like Mr. Kovaleski does.   Here are just a couple of facts to consider with regard to Mr. Kovaleski and his ridiculous claims.

1.  He provided none of the parts to us that he claims he purchased-  NONE

2.  He is also selling himself around the area as a  A. A home remodeling person- Stole over $6,000 from another victim. B.  A pool repair service- Stole from them as well.  Claims in his ads that he has over 20 years of experience in all of these areas.  Not bad for a guy that is 37.

3.  He has multiple felony charges that are all still pending at the moment-  One is for Felony Drug Possesion and the other is for Fraudulently obtaining a cotnrolled substance.  He has a probation revokation hearing scheduled for July 19th.  I along with the other victims mentioned above (both have filed reports on this same website) will do everything in our power to make sure that the court system is fully aware of his actions .

4.  He has at one time or another said to each of the victims I mentioned above and to me that it is his word against ours with regard to the work done or the parts purchased.  Who says that if they are not guilty.  He is a good talker, and I am guessing that his got him in and out of some situations previously.  Most manipulative drug addicts are good talkers, and what he is failing to remember is that his excuses and fast talking only work when you don't know what you are dealing with.  We fell for it and I think he thinks he is just going to "fast talk" or make excuses and pretend he didn't steal from us.  The bottom line for us is that for $525 we have absolutely nothing in return.  NO PARTS, a claim that he spent 12 hours working on it, which is laughable.

My advice directly to you Mr. Kovaleski is this:  Get some help while you still can.  These people are not reporting this stuff as passionately as they are for no reason.  The bottom line is that you stole from all of us, and you did that to suupport a drug habit.  You have to be very desperate to do these kinds of things, just as you have to be desperate to try to pass off a fake prescription.  You are obviously spinning out of control, you know it, but you have become so good at lying that you are even fooling yourself.

Oh and BTW, I don't think for a minute that Chad who responded and said that he did a good job but just didn't communicate well is a real customer.  I am certain that is a response orchestrated by Mr. Kovaleski.

Boat work

AUTHOR: MikeKovo - ()

POSTED: Thursday, July 11, 2013

First I would like to accept responsibility on my part of this situation. Did I over book myself? Yes. Could I have been a little better at communication? Yes. When I was hired to work on the two boats it was over the telephone and I informed him that it was very difficult to diagnose something over the phone. It was made very clear to me what work was to be done as they had had another contractor come give an estimate and they were confident in his findings. I arrived at the house and checked out what they had suggested was the problem. They indeed needed new steering cable and wiring harness in their ski boat. On their Boston whaler it was impossible to diagnose without a key or battery. I suggested we replace the steering cable as they requested and the gauges would only work if they bought two wiring harnesses. That was all I was hired to do on boat #1.

On boat #2 I suggested we do a complete service, remove broken key from ignition, replace portable gas tank, and install new battery. I gave and estimate of $700.00 because they told me the other guy has not come in weeks and frankly I needed the work. They gave me $525.00 for material. steering cable $165.00 Installed Wiring harness $114.00 each $228.00 iNstalled New battery. $140.00 Installed New fluids $68.00 Installed Removed broken key $NO CHARGE Removed dock line wrapped around shaft $NO CHARGE New gas tank (never left with owner) Labor. 2 guys 6 hrs @$10.00 per hour ( being generous) $ 120.00 Simply math equals. $721.00 Then when asked to check out the rest of the boat #1 I noticed that all the hose connectors were melted. I asked about it and was then informed that the boat had not been serviced in 3years. And that when they brought it out they had to be towed in because the boat started overheating and smoking like crazy. The way I see it is that me an another guy took very good care of them and did quality work.

I am out around $200.00 and being made out to be a crook. Boats are alot of work as any boat owner will tell you and require a ton of maintenance. If you know anyone who will replace an inboard motor for $500.00 please sent me their contact information. Again I could have done things differently and should have. Doing the work I did for the amount of $525.00 I feel is a great deal. Im sure any other boat owner that has h a d to have their boat worked on by someone else would agre e. I have contacted the owners trying to see if there is something I could do and their only satisfaction would be to have a running boat. I can not replace the engine on a $-200.00 budget. If i could I would.

Had an issue that was made right

we hired him and his scheduling sucked. He did complete job and charges us no labor for the inconvienence. While working our project earlier this year he was diagnosted with canser and liver disease. We feel he just bites off more than he can chew. But his work was exceptional when done.
