I hired Michael Moller to do a complete bathroom rip out of the old mud and steel mesh walls. It was to include all new plumbing from the second floor to the basement. Install all new blue board walls and ceiling and plaster. He was to provide the tile for the walls and floor with installation and provide the specific fixtures I had chosen for the tub, sink and toilet.
I gave him a deposit of $2000. He came back in 2 days to go over the work again. I added additional work and gave him another check for 2775.00. He called me 2 days later with a strange request. He told me this story about how he got a large tile job in Newport, RI and decided to go in partners with someone else. He ordered the materials and his partners check bounced. If he could not come up with the money needed to pay for the materials, he would lose out on the job which was worth $26,000. And still have to pay the re-stocking fees.
He said he spoke with his lawyer, and that if I payed the balance of my job, he could offer me a $4000 rebate within 10 days of my jobs completion. I agreed and gave him the balance so the job was paid in full.
Long story short, he did the bathroom rip out and the plumber plumbed new plumbing to the basement. I met with the carpenter who was scheduled to start work on Tuesday. That morning,Mike called me and asked me for a favor. He said he did not have the money to pay for the sheet rock. And if I could pay for it until he check cleared at the end of the week. I told him I was paid and full and would not.
I haven't seen him since. I have been without a bathroom for over 3 weeks. I have had to hire another carpenter to finish the work. I still have to buy my fixtures and hire a tile man to tile the room. And a plumber to install the fixtures.
This man never paid the plumber for the work he did and is very angry! And I am out $8775.00.
He should be put in jail. He should not be able to get away with this rip off!

Mr. Mollers response is quite amusing and typical of the approach he took with me, sincere and trusting. All lies, he is a very troubled person.
I would suggest very strongly that anyone in any state who has had Mr. Moller con them contact the state attorney generals office or the states consumer fraud division. In RI contact the RI Contractors Board. Mr. Moller is operating in MA and RI without a license and insurance and probably in other states as well which in itself is problematic for him. I wont even go into the quality of the work which was a joke. Fortuntely I asked him to stop the work before he went to far. I had one official who wanted an extra copy of the pictures of his work it was so laughable.
So onto Mr. Moller. At this point in the process the State of RI is issuing fines and restitution payment on my behalf. The next step is criminal charges. Eventually warrants for Mr. Mollers arrest will be issued (assuming he doesnt come up with the cash) and will be arrested at some point and placed in the ACI at which time he will need to post bond which is doubtful so he will have a nice room with a view but no room service. Now this will take time but it doesnt really matter to me, its not about the money any longer. This individual is allowed to enter into people's homes and who knows what he is capable of. What he hasnt figured out are there are people who will do whatever it takes to protect the securtiy of thier family. Maybe I will have the opportunity to exchange pleasantries with him in person sometime in the future. Let the games begin Mr. Moller.

I am very sorry to this consumer I had a lot of money time aand effort tied in a project with a customer who did not pay and there for put myself near bankrupt I am doing my very best to restructure my situation I never meant for this to happen If I had intended on ripping this consumer off No work no plumber or carpenter would have ever shown up. It is my intention to compensate this consumer for the cost to finish the project. In this economy many businesses are struggling I am no different then a store or business in this world but there is no bailout for me so I will do my best to bail myself out and make this right.
