Michael Purdy Baja PPG Stop the Carnage La Salina Internet

My name is Steve Tustison and it is with sadness that I am finally compelled to write my own report about Micheal Purdy.

I was friends with Micheal for about 10 years, we originally met thru the PPG flying community and had many mutual friends. About 5 years ago Micheal asked me to loan him $1500, to help him out of a 'jam'. I was not sure if it was a wise move, and I was not working at the time, but he was my friend so I loaned him the money.

Over the course of 4+ years I stayed at his place on several occasions sleeping in an unused room when he did not have students at his rented house in Baja Califonia. He and his girl friend fed me a few meals. We had a few drinks. We joked that it was interest on his loan, but never did he make any attempt to repay me.

 I became aware several years ago thru mutual friends, several that have made reports on this website, that Micheal was notorious for not paying money that he owed . At one point while having a dispute over money with one of them, Casey Cadwell, a friend of mine who has also posted a report here, Micheal asked me to get involved and talk to Casey on his behalf. I told Micheal that I would have a difficult time defending his position in light of the fact that he also owed me money and had not made any effort to repay me. It became apparent that Micheal owed money to a number of people in the flying community, and several of them ultimately posted here. I was asked to post my story as well.

I was unwilling at the time to make a report about my 'friend', But I understood their frustrations and why they were compelled to do so.

When the reports on this website and one other became public knowledge in the PPG community, Micheals' phone stopped ringing and in time he had to close his school and move out of his house at LaSalina.. About 6 months went by and he had dropped off the map. His Phones are all disconnected and he wasn't answering email . I went to the neighborhood that he had moved to south of were his school had been, and drove around until I recognized his cars in front of a house. When I knocked on his door, he answered Very angry at me claiming all his problems were my fault for not sticking up for him. We spoke briefly and it was not a friendly conversation. He blames everyone but himself for his troubles.

The reason I am writing this report today is because Micheal has now started a campaign of 'retaliation' against several of the people he blames for his troubles. He has posted an anonymous report on this webite, and created a website to 'trash' one of the other people that posted here.

MICHEAL if you are reading this.. STOP what you are doing. As I told you in one of our emails “get you financial house in order.”

Make some amends. Start repaying what you owe. Even a couple of dollars a week would show you were Ernest. You once had a voice in the PPG community, and you squandered your reputation for a few dollars. Take stock and fix the problem Micheal. Bashing those that stood up and said 'Enough” is not going to fix anything.

I hope this does not fall on deaf ears. Do the right thing Micheal. I miss my friend. Steve
