I redesigned an existing product, improving it's function. When I went to the store to have my prototype built, I was told it couldn't be done. I showed them my blueprint, how it functions, and they wanted me to bring in the props that brings the prototype to life. I brought in a few of the props. I needed it for my art display. They said it would take two weeks, it ended up being a month and two weeks, this after I had to modify my design and push for my product to be built my way.
They took my prototype and copied it exactly and is selling it in their store after on employee in the framing department who is suppose to be an artist said it was his project.
This was my design. My Design. My Design.

A few days after I posted this complaint a associate from Michaels
called me. He asked me to explain what happened, explain the design, did
I like the design, what contents were to be placed in the open face
shadow box. He tried insulting me about the wine bottle that was used in
the end design. I told him why would a person in Michaels place a wine
bottle in a design when children frequent the store with their parents. I
told him what the design cost me ( over $600 ) at Michaels and to see
my exact design on the wall for sell and at a lower cost than what I
paid for, and the new project a fraction larger was going to cost me
$3,000. I told this man why did they rip me off regarding my design and
why was I charged so such more than the copy, also why was I told $3,000
is the cost of my next project. I explained to the Michaels rep. that
after I entered the store and went to the framing department and
explained the next project, gave instructions, footage, etc., and bam I
was told you did this and they confirmed I designed the prototype that
was on the wall.The man from Michaels never called back.
