This guy is a real piece of work.
Placed an order on March 21, 2005 for some custom made cabinet doors, custom made drawer fronts and some hinges. Sent the money as he requested. The invoice on the bottom states "Doors will ship via FedEx in approx. 3 to 4 weeks, if it is longer than 4 weeks you will be notified. Once doors are shipped customer will be given tracking number and projected delivery day".
Week 4 came and went and I hadn't received any notification of a delay, or the product so I e-mailed them and they responded with the following:
Sorry it has taken so long to get back with you I had a mishap in the shop last week, and I have been out of commission for a week, so no yours will probally ship out the following week. I apologize for the delay.

That would have ment that the order would be shipping the last week of April. Of coarse it did not and I remained calm, and contacted them again starting the first week in May with the following result.
Thank you for contacting Michael's Custom Cabinets. Due to a death in the immediate family we will be closed the first part of the week.
We apologize for any inconvenience.

That message went on for over 2 weeks. I was able to reach them by phone late in the evening, May 26, 2005. I politely asked what the status of the order was and he replied he thought he could have it done by the end of the next week. Well June 3, has come and gone and still nothing.
I have tried to reach them numerous times since and now they do not answer the phone at all, and they do not return calls if you leave them a message.
So at this point I am now VERY PISSED OFF. On Wednesday June 8, 2005 I received an e-mail response from them reading the following:
We are working to finish all our orders. You can assume what you want about our company, that is your choice. If you want to wait I don't know the exact date as to when yours will be completed, when you called me the other night I had just got home from a family crisis and really wasn't in the right mind to discuss someones order at that time. If you choose to wait I will be in a better position to tell you when to expect your order on Friday.

Guess what today is? FRIDAY and no response. No suprise!
Not sure how their hole scam works but it sounds pretty much like a money maker for them and a money loser for the customer.
They may have got me this time, but hopefull this report will prevent him from getting any other people.

I am happy to announce that I received a postal money order from Michael's Custom Cabinets on Tuesday June 26, 2005, three months after I placed my order for cabinet doors, and $1.13 more than I was owed.
Now I would much rather of received good quality doors and drawer fronts, but I am not sure that would have ever happened.
It is only due to constant persistance of e-mails, voice mails and most definately the help of Detective Hummel from the Chesapeake police department, that I received this money order. Believe me Mike Brodt was not happy about my refund, he was just happy about not having to hear from me again.
I think Mike Brodt finally understood that I was not about to just turn my head on this deal.
I would encourage anyone out there that is still waiting, to do the same.
After all, with all the e-mails I have sent to Michael's Custom Cabinets, I am certain that,
I am Mikey's best buddy!!
Cuz Mikey and I, we got real close over da last few weeks.

The guy is a con man without a doubt!
Fortunately, James Johnson, another more fortunate than I customer of Michael's, was going to give him an order today for almost $1,000.00 until he read the reports on this site.
Mike Brodt told James that I am "a thorn in his side" and he had already "refunded my money over a month ago", among many other lies about my order.
Chester, you need to contact and file a report with the FBI internet fraud department. Go to the web site at ifccfbi.gov with www in front of it, and file a complaint. Tell them the whole story.
We can get this guy if we all work together. Who knows how many other people are out there that have been screwed by this goof.
Mike Brodt claimed to Mr. Johnson that his home address is 600 Avery Court in Chesapeake, VA. I doubt that is true though because most con men like him, do not give correct information. When I looked up the address it is not registered to his name.
I gave that to the Chesapeake, VA police dept. and I talked with a Detective Hummel at the department. When he gets the I-3 form from the FBI he will ask me to file a complaint with the Chesapeake Police Department and I will do that.
Yes, there will be a couple of trips needed to Virginia to get him prosecuted, but if we allow clowns like this to get away with things like this it will never stop. This low life jerk, and all others like him need to be put away as soon as possible. The only way it can happen is if people like us do it NOW.
