Michigan Indoor Technologies recently put an add in craigslist for employees needed. They labled what they do as pollution control. The add seemed legit so I called for an interview. I arrived a half hour early and was politely asked to leave and come back 10 minuets till, so I did. When I left I typed the business name into my phone and the first link that came up was ripoff report. I was suprised to read what the gentleman by the name of jackson wrote, but I decided to give it a try anyways. After the GROUP interview/ presentation I was suprised to find out all of what he said in the interview happened. I was told to call later to find out if I was accepted. when I called I was told she would return my call. Well, my curiousity got the best of me, so I came home and disceted the rip off reports made, and this is what I found....

On report #1026722 A lady by the name of Hillary DeRosia says " It filters the air and makes it really easy for breathing especially when I have COPD. It purifies the air and makes it feel like you are breathing outside air close to a clean lake with a real nice breeze." AMAZINGLY Sara Sandray happens to say the exact same phrase on report #1058508.

On report #1026722 April Mason gives us examples of satisfied customers. Notice how 4 out of 6 satisfied customers use italicized lettering in their statements. Sounds like maybe one person wrote all of those comments, damage control maybe?

Also Notice how almost all of the positive comments were posted on Oct. 28, 2013. Coincidence?

My reson for writing this is not to get even or because Im mad, All that was wasted was gas and time. My real reason for writing this is to speak the truth about my research and protect people. Its wrong to decieve people. Mark my words...there will be a kind rebutal to my comments. I just ask you to check my research for yourself and decide whats true. Thank you.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

They deceived me into working for them.

AUTHOR: JackJohnson - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, August 27, 2014

The add they posted on craiglist that I responded to said that the job was not a sales position and it paid $3100 a month. Like any logical thinker I thought that might sound a little to good to be true BUT they said "ITS NOT A SALES POSITION" and had a set figure amount of what we'd be making so I figured i might as well call the number they had listed to set up an interview. They gave me a day and time for my "interview" and I showed up. When I stepped into their office the first thing that through me off was the way their "secretary" was dressed. She was wearing baggy clothes and Jordan's yet we were told to dress "business casual", this was the first RED FLAG. Once I got inside i said that I was there for my 2:00 interview with Felicia, Felicia then handed me a folder with an application and told me that I had to go into a room to fill it out while I waited for her. This seemed pretty normal, go to the interview room and fill out the app while you wait, etc etc. Unfortunatly that's not what happened. What happened was the room she took me for my "interview" was a conference room that had around 15 other people all with the same folders filling out apps, she then said "We had so many interviews today we decided to make it a group interview", That was the 2nd big Red flag. At that point I normally would have just left but I had just spent 40 minutes worth of gas driving there so I figured I would hear what she had to say at the very least. about 10-15 minutes after she comes bursting in the room shouting "You all can smile again, THIS IS NOT A SALES JOB!". Part of me started feeling relief because I thought legally an employer couldn't completley lie to their employees as to what their positon entailed, or could they? She went on a whole tangent about how she used to be a dental assistant and how she couldn't afford to live on that salary so she came here, and with in only a few months climbed her way to the top, the same old bull s**t story I've heard for every bull s**t sales job. At the end of all that she told us to call back later that day to find out if we were "selected" to be "part of the team", which became RED FLAG #3 because I felt it would be weird to select people that you never one on one interviewed, would it be based off what we were wearing? Me still willing to give them my benefit of the doubt because again I thought they couldn't legally lie about the position I decided to call back. Of course I was "selected" and was told to start "training" the following day (wednesday) and I would be trained until Friday. When I get there the next day the first thing I noticed was what I thought to be an odd selection of people, just the most desperate, bottom of the barrel, willing to believe any old story you'd tell them. I mean these were the type of people you would find in a cult or an extreme religious group. One of the people in my group "interview" was currently going to U of M and I couldnt understand out of all the people they "selected" why a person that was smart enough to go to U of M wouldn't be one of them, this was RED FLAG #4. As time went on she had us shake each other's hands, give each other mean faces and go up to each other and give each other big hugs, which seemed odd but I'm all for "new age" techniques. Finally she started breaking some numbers down on the board and with that we came to see that the only "guaranteed" money we had coming to us every week was a $75 has card. $75 a week doesn't add up to anything close to $3100 a month. This is when a smidgeon of the truth started coming out and she told us about these "delivery bonuses" which we got an estimate of $100 for every unit the clients bought off of us. so to make more then $75 per week we would have to SELL these units! Now I'm confused and this was RED FLAG #5. So after our delivery bonuses which by michigan average were about 4 a week, we would be making 475 a week plus the difference at the end of the month to amount to 3100 "because they have to pay us 3100". Even if you could survive on just $75 a week, remember this is a job where you are driving your own vehicle around all day plus how long it takes you to drive there and home, the catch is that you have to do 64 appointments a month to have a "gurantee" of the "3100" at the end of the month. If you do only 63 appointments, they don't owe you anything so you better hope you can make it to every appointment plus spending atleast an hour and a half at each plus the time it takes you to get to each plus if you are taking to long because of traffic they give your appt to someone closer. The odds are in their favor and against yours, why wouldn't they manipulate where your appts were so you wouldn't be able to make all of them? Now they can have you as a salesmen with out owing you anything. As rediculous as all this was, a shred of me still thought it was worth a try until RED FLAG #6. Red flag #6 was when she told us how she was going to talk to April (her boss) about promoting us from apprentice to "junior executives" which would take us from a $100 delivery bonus to a $300 delivery bonus and would give us a guarantee of $6400 at the end of the month instead of $3100. One of the guys in our group asked her "What more would we have to do for that promotion?" And she replied "nothing". This was not only shady sounding based on the fact that our job details would be no different but also because there was 10 people in our group, which would mean just for one month this company would be paying out $64,000 and we weren't the only employees! This would mean this company that can't even pay for a decent dressed secretary, would be bringing in an estimate over $800,000.00 a year. Ok, let's pretend that this is possible for 1 second, how much money do these units cost to where they can still make a profit and pay us $6400 a month? That question was asked by the same guy who asked the previous question about this "promotion" and she wouldnt give him an answer! This is when it was 100% super shady in my head, the math was not adding up and they had already completely lied to us previously, why wouldn't they lie more? What really didn't add up was the story Felicia was telling us about herself. She told us that she lives in Flint which is one of the poorest if not the poorest cities in the state, she also drives a Chevy cobalt. Now since she was "training" us, she would obviously be higher on the pay scale then us right? So she would in fact be making more then $6400 a month right? So excuse me if I'm mistaken, but if you were making that kind of money why would you live in that area? She could probably live in any city she wants with those figures. It just wasn't adding up and realizing that they had no issue lying to us to get us in their group "interview" and lie to us again to start "training", there's no way I could further trust them as my employer.

IN CONCLUSION: I probably wouldn't have even taken the time out of my day to even make a post about them. But since they aren't being held accountable by the state to be truthful with their employees, someone has to make them. It is not ok to deceive people into working for you, it is not ok to deceive people into buying your product either. If the job was "that good" or the product you're selling was "that good" you wouldn't have to lie to get people interested. what bugs me the most though is that there are people out there who are looking for sales jobs, why would you waste peoples time that aren't? Wouldn't it be less counter productive to just hire people that wanted to do a job instead of trying to con them into it by telling them it's something else? If I need roofing done on my house im not going to call a landscaper, that would be dumb wouldn't it? What this company is doing though is much more dark and much more sinister then just lying to people to get them tangled in their company. They are preying on the weak and desperate and really selling them a story more then selling their clients a vacuum or a purifier. It should not be legal to completely decieve people, and I will be contacting congress about this as well as contacting BBB. They need to either be more ethical on how they get employees or they need to be shut down, immediately!

#1 UPDATE Employee

I am a current Employee - Yes you can even call and talk to me

AUTHOR: Jason B - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Hello,

My name is Jason Buchanan, and I started with Michigan Indoor Technologies in Auburn Hills, MI in January of this year - So about the same time that this lady would have gone in for an interview.  Although I have had many different companies in the past ranging from customer service, sales, automotive, and management.  At the time that I had answered the ad in the newspaper, I was working a dead end J.O.B I was starting to get tired of working my butt off every day just to make someone else a lot money and not recieving any recognition for it.  When I came in to see April Mason for the interview, she explained all the details of the opportunity.  I was a bit skeptical at first, but it sounded super fantastic and I said to myself "Go for it".  The biggest part that drew me in was the limitless income, recognition for the hard work that you do, and the fact that the company supported you as you grow with the company.  In the eight monthsthat I have been with the company, I've worked my way a bit up the ladder and reached Senior Partner level and have been named one of the managers of the office.  With just a few more steps, I should be able to reach the distributor level and start the building blocks of my own business venture.  I am very glad that I took the chance and answered the ad for this great opportunity when I did.  I would like to thank April and Keith Mason for seeing something in me and supporting me so for with the company.  I am very excited and looking forward to continueing my career and friendships with all my Filtropur Family.

Thank you,

Jason Buchanan
