Like the previous complaint, I contracted with a $50 logo designer who promised the design within 1 day - the timeframe I needed. After a day passed, the designer accepted the project, worked on it for less than 30 mins and gave me a logo that completely ignored most of the brief. I explained to Microlancer that if this designer can't even follow a simple brief I no longer wished to work with him. Needing the correct design in a hurry, and having no confidence in the guy at Microlancer, I had to give the job to another designer. So I requested my money back and planned to give the site another shot down the road.
That's when I encountered their "support", which basically is a one-sided affair where they take the designer's side, insult you by lying to your face about the designer's adherence to the brief, and in the most polite way tell you to take a hike. I want to make it clear that this wasn't just the support rep. The General Manager, Layla Foord - the highest ranking person at Microlancer - reinforced everything the support rep said and did.
Microlancer claims to check out its designers so that you don't end up with Fiverr quality. Unfortunately, Fiverr quality is exactly what you get, but Fiverr's support is a million times better and you pay 10x less for the service. I've never ever encountered a situation Fiverr did not handle properly, and I've bought over 100 gigs.
Doing business with Microlancer is a huge risk. Not only will support leave you hung out to dry if you get a bum design, but even Paypal won't protect you. According to Paypal, no purchases at Microlancer are eligible for buyer protection because "[the services being sold] violate Paypal's terms of use". Those are Paypal's words.
In the end I was able to get my money back via credit card dispute but it was in no way worth the hassle. I wouldn't use these guys again if the work was free. Think about that for a minute. If there was NO COST, I still wouldn't use them. That bad.
