In December 2011, I signed my son up for a 1 month subscription to X-Box Live to carry him over until X-Mas when he would be getting a 1-year gold card as a present. I was forced to use a credit card, but made sure to go into MSN and CANCEL THE CARD immediately after purchasing the 30 day online service. I KNOW I did this because I have been robbed before, and I am very careful with online transactions.
On February 16th 2012, a charge of $10.94 from "ZUNE".....a company I had NEVER heard of magically appeared on my statement. I suspected my son had done something, and was set to give him what for. I composed myself, and eventually figured out that ZUNE was a Microsoft company. I knew full well that the only time I had given my CC to Microsoft was for the X-Box. I called Microsoft, and after sitting on hold for 1/2 hour, I was told that EVEN THOUGH I had REMOVED the credit card from the X-box account.....it was their policy that it remained accessible by Microsoft until the 30-day X-box service ran out. Apparently, during that time period, they claim my son signed up for a FREE trial on this Microsoft ZUNE. HE denies ever doing so (I suspect they hid the trial in fine print on something else he accessed). Of course, as always, after the FREE trial ran out, they looked for a credit card to charge automatically, and found it through X-Box.
I asked the man if he would PLEASE get my credit card out of the MSN system.
Here is the continuing RIDICULOUS PART.
He said that, once again, he could not REMOVE THE CARD FROM THE SYSTEM UNTIL THE 30 DAY ZUNE SUBSCRIPTION RUNS OUT. In the meantime, it can again be accessed by any OTHER MSN companies.
I am going to my Credit Union today to cancel the card. Microsoft will not refund the money. I will avoid their products and services from this point forward. I've been moving towards Apple anyway. When the 1 year subscription runs out, both my sons will be getting another gaming consule if they ask for it at Christmas, but no more X-Box online.

You buy a month of x-box live. Your son signs up for ZUNE, it doesn't matter if it was in the small print or not you should use this as a chance to teach your son to read what he is agreeing to. You called to get it stopped and were told you had to wait out the ZUNE month. Which is weird, but I'll give you that. Now, at any point during this month did anyone contact ZUNE and cancel the subscription? You don't say if you did. If you didn't cancel the subscription to ZUNE, then of course the charges will continue. They will likely continue even if you cancel the card, they already have an ACH on file for a monthly rate. You need to contact zune and have the subscription cancelled, and they might be able to give you a refund. Also, if you think apple is better, good luck with them!

I was unable to cancel my check card because am a travelling salesman, and simply cannot go 1 to 2 weeks without it. I thought, for sure, there was no way Microsoft ZUNE would bill my card again. I WAS WRONG. My account was charged again. I will now have NO CHOICE but to cancel my card. What a shame.
