So, Midland Credit Management (MCM) showed up on my credit report after having items removed from my credit report. I disputed the validity via the CRAs and they never verified the debt and was thusly removed from my report. I received something from MCM in the mail stating they have sold my account to MRC but if I want to settle, I can still do so with MCM. I called and asked that they verify the debt and the woman who took my call said that the paper was verification and hung up on me.

I then received correspondence from Pressler and Pressler stating that they are legal counsel representing MRC whom I never received anything from. They stated that I owed one amount, MCM claimed I owed another amount. None of it made sense. I contacted Pressler and they state that they are not interested in settling but they will settle and take $80 off the amount they claim is owed.

I asked them to verify the debt and they sent me a paper that basically let me know they have a computer, my address and maybe some sort of convoluted invoicing software. I was compiling my response and this has been taking me some time because I am very busy. Then, I received court papers stating that I am being sued. I am working on my answer to the complaint now.

One business day after I received the court papers, I received correspondence from a company called Credit Foundation USA, Inc. This came in an envelope that states district court information on the outside. But then I noticed the oddest thing, the return address is in MD. Out of curiosity, I opened the envelope and the letter says that they know I am being sued and they want to help me. How nice, right? But it does not ring true to me.

I just called them approximately 2 hours ago and a man named Terry (Terry Hart is who signed the letter) and he stated he is strictly on my side. Never trust anyone who says that. He asked me what I have done so far and I stated that I am working on my answer to the complaint and I am going to request verification information from the complainant's counsel (Pressler). He advised me that this is not the way to go. He said that if I am to work with him that I should do nothing at this time. I asked him would he get the debt reduced. He stated no he probably wouldn't but he would get me on a low monthly plan. And it would only cost $200. I smell a scam. Let me know what you think out there.

Pressler & Pressler are lowlfe "attorneys" and are also debt buyers under other names.

DO NOT speak with ANYONE on the phone! STAY OFF THE PHONE!! Demand all communication be in writing!

Check with your local court to see if a lawsuit was actually filed. These lowlife are famous for forging documents, etc.. They do this to scare you into a settlement, or into accidentally making a payment thus re-affirming the debt.

Keep it short and sweet. Respond to the court and cc to Pressler. Simply dispute the debt and specify that you have never done business with any of the parties involved and you don't even know who they are. Then specify that you several times requested validation and they refused to provide it.

Send this to both parties by certified mail, return reciept requested, and be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy of each for your records.

Good luck!
