Mike Jacoby Did not get any other names, or any I.D. he left a buisiness card, I think by accident. Bad Unlicensed Mechanic, Broke Vehicle, Confrentational, Undependable, WILL IGNORE CALLS AND CHANGE MULTIPE NUMBERS. Craigslist.org, California

 I had a 2001 Ford Taurus SEL that had a bad powersteering pump.  I used craiglist.org to find a cheap mechanic and found Mike Jacoby who at the time had the number 559-761-2717 (No Longer In Service.)  I removed the old powersteering pump but did have the tools remove the pulley to put on the new pump, so I called Mike Jacoby to come swap the pulleys.

He said he would be in there in 20 mins did not show up until 1 1/2 later.  He told me 25 bucks to switch and assemble the new pump witch was resonable so I allowed him to work on my vehicle as he said he would take care of it. While putting on the new pump he did not properly install the new pulley correctly because he hammer it on, which in the direction it states do not hammer it on as i pointed that out to him. He replied, "These things are tougher than you think."

As it was all assembled it leaked from the high pressure hose to where the pump was connected and the pump was making a rattling noise which he assured me was normal it has air in it. I told him I would buy a high pressure hose and he could come back and fix it, he agreed. 2 Weeks went by after multiple calls no answer, an his phone was now turned off.

I went on craigslist.org againg to see if someone would repair the high pressure, My second Mistake.  I called by random another posting which had two numbers (559) 720-7685 and (559) 394-7816 (Both No Longer In Service) which both happen to be Mike Jacoby.  He was surprised but said he could come and install it no problems for 40 dollars in 20 minutes, I said OK, 3 hrs go by.  He shows up and says he'll take care of it, I said ok cool and went inside.  After about 45 mins i went back outside to find my heat sheild on the ground and coolant resovoir disessembled, and him telling me he wont be able to do it right now because he has to pick up his son from school.

At this point im a little nervous because it only gave hime hour to work.  I told him to just put everything back together which in then he suggested he take the gasket from the new high pressure line and put it on the old pressusre  which should stop the leak which it did. In the middle of assembling he said it was urgent to leave and he would return in an hour, he left at 3:50 and returned at around 6 after Ignoring 2 calls. When he returned he started to assemble it all back together and i went inside. After about 20 mins i went back out to find in franticaly speaking on the phone with someone asking for a new pulley as which he smiling replied to me " I accidently broke your pulley"... I was very Irritated at the moment but he said he was talking to a parts guy at that moment and he could get another one  for $6 at 7 PM  and he would come back and replace it all at his expenses. (Note this is at 7 p.m.) At  Around 9:45 p.m. i called him to tell him not to come back in the evening but in morning because i had to go to Monterey and my fiance did not feel comfortable waiting that late for him which he agreed to and said he'd be there at 9 am.

The nest morning 9 comes around and goes so i wait till 10 am to give him a call, being polite. Note: I am in Monterey, CA my fiance it the one waiting for him.  I give him a call at 10 to which he replies sry ill be there in 20 mins i overslept I said ok cool my fiance will be waiting.  11:30 come no has showed up so i gave him another call which i got no answer and then i call again no answer. At at this time i have my fiance call him from her phone which he answer immediately. She confronted him and said she needed he car fixed for school and its now noon, he told her "I talked to him 5 minutes ago," which is a lie i got no call from him. He told her will be there in 10 mins hes down the road. 

By this it 2:00 pm and still no show. I  called him from my phone and my fiances phone multiple time which he did not answer. So i called him from my dads phone which he picked up immediately. I asked him where he was and if he was going to make out to repair my vehicle which he broke, at that point i overheard him talking on another phone asking for parts for another which at that time he hung up on me and did not answer anymore call from any of the 3 numbers.

After all this i ended up buying a new pulley 25$, and had it installed by another mechanic for 80 dollars which he then informed me that im missing parts to the power steering resovour, coolant resovoir, heat shield was not installed. He also tore my serpentine belt, broke and the bearings in my tensioner so it loose now.  My car is still disable and have to wait for money to repair. 

I am still concerned because as of 7/16/2012 he is still posting with new numbers 559-681-4022 or 559-477-2041 and i have seen multiple people write warning posting which are removed immediate due to slander while his posting stays valid after multiple flags.  I have had my craigslist account locked because of writing warning posting and feel i can do nothing else but let him rip people off.  I am asking if you can take a serious investigation into the dishonest man and see the truth for what he not, A Good Mechanic.
