I went into this shop whilst on holiday in NYC, my first time there. The salesman actually saw us looking in the window and came out to us, persuading us to go inside. He showed us a Fujifilm Finepix S700 camera and quoted me a price which I thought at the time seemed reasonable, and I decided to purchase. He said 'you won't need the box will you?' I said no, then he said he hadn't got one on the shelf, then there was a sort of hurried few moments when he got us to pay, and it was only later that I realised we had been sold the 'shop demo' camera rather than a new one.

I have since discovered that the price he charged me was not a good price, I could even have got the camera in the UK cheaper.

But what is worse, is that when I got home and read the camera manual, I discovered that loads of things that should have been with the camera were not given to me. Instead, he gave me low grade substitutes.

I should have had a shoulder strap. He gave me a flimsy wrist strap, and only because I asked for it.

I should have had a lens cover with a strap. I went back the next day and asked for a lens cover and he gave me one, but not the proper Fuji one with the strap.

I should have had a cable for connecting the camera direct to the TV.

Basically, the saleman sweet-talked a gullible tourist into parting with large quantities of cash - I also bought two other lenses and a case, none of which (I realised subsequently) were for a good price. I reckon I could have bought all the stuff in the UK (with everything included) for at least 100 (around $200) less. Also the case he sold me he said was $60 but he would sell it to me for $30. It's made of nylon, I've found a leather one in a camera shop here in the UK made by Fuji for only 25 ($50).

I've now found others on the web who have been ripped off by this shop. I feel so disappointed by the way I was treated, it has really taken the shine off a great holiday.
