A year ago in July (2013) I bought a can of Minwax English Chestnut #233 stain and started using it to stain some doors. Over the months I could see that I needed more stain so I bought another can of the English Chestnut #233.  After I finished off the first can I started the second can. 

 

After finishing 2 and 1/2 doors I realized the two cans were vastly different colors. See the results in the attached picture of the doors  I was doing one door in the garage and the others in the basement so I didn't notice the vast difference.  Then I compared the cans.  See the difference, even on the lable.  How could Minwax give the same name and number to wood stains that are so different in color.

MinWax Minwax I have been using Minwax Hardwood Floor Cleaner and Reviver for years. This time my floors are covered with the S pattern used during the application process. Needless to say the floors are ruined and I was offered a new bottle as compensation. Upper Saddle River New Jersey
